This hike is not an easy hike, but is achievable by people of average fitness. Your guide will accompany you all the way to the top. The whole tour is only about 89 kilometers long but very steep, so that the round-trip from the park gate to Longonot Peak takes around 5 hours.
After leaving the mountain, take a break at Mount Longonot National Park headquarters, before heading to Lake Naivasha, where you can purchase lunch at the lakeside Marina Camp(own expense). Keep an eye on the sky throughout the tour, as Hells Gate National Park is home to more than 100 species of birds, including Verreauxs eagles, augur buzzards, vulture, and swifts.
Continue on foot into the parks distinctive gorges, where narrow passageways and caves are sunk into sedimentary rock. After a 1-hour walk, depart for Lake Naivasha, then head to Naivasha Marina camp for lunch (own expense).
