Ile de la Passe is a rocky islet in the bay off Grand Port on the island of Mauritius. Between 20 and 25 August 1810, during the British campaign to capture the island (then called Isle de France) from the French, it was the scene of the Battle of Grand Port. This was a long and very hard-fought action between roughly equal forces of French and British frigates and, on balance, a defeat for the British, who lost four frigates, though one of these was subsequently recaptured. Guests will be picked up by our certified drivers which can give them explanations about Mauritius. Guests will the be taken to embarkation area where they will be assigned their respective CATAMARAN.

Once on board, the captain will brief everyone about safety measures and soon after drinks will be served. Guests will get the chance to visit GRSE WATERFALL which is fantastic and hard to access area.

During the day, BBQ lunch, drinks and desserts will be provided on the catamaran. Party will continue till drop off on the Ile aux cerf Island and guests will be the chance to experience the blue water and white sandy beaches of the islet.

The tour departs from Calodyne head to the beautiful coastal village of Grand Gaube where you will discover hidden beaches, a Hindu temple, virgin beach areas away from civilization and we'll continue our journey exploring the coastal zone, interact with locals at the heart of the villages we past by, visit the famous red church in Cap Malheureux. We'll stop by the beach for some snacks and some refreshments and the tour ends giving you the opportunity to take a dip in the ocean.

The Casela Nature Park, a beautiful garden and bird sanctuary of some 25 acres, is situated in the west part of the island. After seeing the birds, embark your Safari Vehicles for a Safari in Yemen, domain found between the mountain of Tamarin and the Trois Mamelles, home to two of the longest rivers of the island: Rempart and Tamarin. Enjoy the beautiful sight of Java deer roaming freely in the grassy savannah. Wild boars, hares, monkeys, mongoose and the famous Mauritian fruit bat can also be seen during the Tour. Trou d'eau Douce (Pass by)

Begin your full-day excursion to Ile Aux Cerfs with a hotel pick-up at your accommodation anywhere on the paradise Island. You will meet and be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding to your comfortable vehicle, then set off to Trou D'eau Douce village.

Arriving at Trou D'eau Douce or Pointe Jerome at 09.15 A.M, you will board to your Catamaran to enjoy this memorable catamaran cruise from Trou D'eau Douce or Pointe Jerome to Ile Aux Cerfs.

1: Grand River South East Waterfalls

You will start your trip with a visit to the waterfall at Grand River South East before setting sail for the island of Ile Aux Cerfs. Then, when reaching the Grand River, you will go by speed boats to visit the waterfalls which are found about 500m upstream. If youre lucky, youll be able to see the curious monkeys jumping through the big old trees on the river banks. Watch the Mauritian fruit bats resting perched on the highest trees as you approach the waterfall. Following the visit to the waterfall, you will head back to the catamaran.

The catamaran will then sail inside the crystal-clear water of the lagoon until stopping for a snorkeling & swimming break where breathtaking coral reefs & tropical fish are on prominent display.

The Mauritian lagoon is home to some of the world's most breathtaking coral reefs & marine life ever to be seen- you will get to see the amazing marine life, full of hundreds of bright-colored fish.

Departing at 0930 from Trou D'eau Douce we set sail for a cruise towards the stunning GRSE waterfalls nearby. There, you will be welcomed by amazing green sceneries and if youre lucky, some monkeys may come to greet you. After that, our boat will slide through the glimmer of the turquoise water and bring you to the perfect snorkeling spot. Lunch will be served just after.

In the distance, the highly distinctive shapes and colours of Round Island and Snakes Island beckon.

After approximately one hour of easy cruising, you will discover the magic of Flat Island and Gabriel Island. You can snorkel in the lovely lagoon, or simply laze in the sun on the beautiful sandbar that Gabriel Island is best known for. 1: La Vanille Nature Park

Spread over 3.5 hectares in the south of the island, this reserve, which was created in 1985, now allows you to observe the largest colony of turtles, with 1,000 individuals, including Domino , the dean of the reserve and one of the largest turtles in the world.

The site is also home to 2,000 Nile crocodiles, the animals can be observed at different stages of their growth. During the visit, you will also have the opportunity to see monkeys, bats, deer, geckos, wild boars and carp ... to name just a few species of the reserve.

The park is widely known throughout the island for its insectarium where the work of Jacques Siedlecki is stored; a collection of 23,000 species of beetles, butterflies and other insects for a multitude of shapes and colors.

5: Aapravasi Ghat

Afterward, you'll head to visit The Aapravasi Ghat which is a World Heritage Site located on the Bay of Trou Fanfaron in Port Louis. This historical site served as an immigration depot by the colonial British government in 1849. It has played a pivotal role in the Mauritian history, as it is from this very instance that the Mauritian population became more diverse than ever.

It was here that indentured laborers transited before starting a new life on the island or set off to other distant lands. Between 1834 and 1920, about half a million immigrants, mainly from India, some from China, Madagascar or Africa, began working on the various sugar plantations across the island.

After a few minutes later, you'll head to Le Caudan waterfront which has been the first major shopping development on the island of Mauritius and still is able to keep up with the trends and retain its charm as a modern waterfront mall. 7: Le Craft Market

Then, continue to the craft market. Everyone wants to bring back home a small piece of Mauritius and we understand why! The Craft Market, located at Caudan, will surely help you in finding your piece of Mauritius.

Based on a two-storey building within the Caudan Waterfront complex, The Craft Market is known for its unique craft collection. With 36 stalls, visitors will get a wide variety of products ranging from exquisite woodwork to detailed baskets without forgetting beautiful glass souvenirs.

You will also find items made from seashells, boxes of ground spics, embroidered linen, handmade jewelry, and the very famous African rag doll dressed in a typical sega outfit.

Many of the handicrafts are made by the stalls owners, their families, or sourced from their villages, so you will get the chance of meeting the artists behind the paintings on sale or even witness your name being engraved on a wooden keychain.

The Blue Penny Museum collection also includes a series of treasures: old marine maps, paintings, sculptures, stamps, engravings and old documents that bring forward the richness of Mauritian history and culture.

Then, head to the local market. We know that you will probably never be fed up with beaches but a visit to the Central Market located in Port Louis is a must for anyone visiting Mauritius. Here at the bustling Central Market, you will find shops that fit all your needs, ready-made garments, spices, jewelry, watches, shoes, crafts amongst others.

We do recommend tasting the dhal puri, made with split chickpea and flour, and the famous alouda, almost like a milkshake with basil seeds, grated jelly, and sometimes a scoop of ice. If you wish to try some of the local snacks, you will find a large choice of samosas, bajas (fritters made with chickpea flour) or gato piment (fritters made with yellow split pea and chilli).

The Central Market remains busy as it is one of the main shopping spots for locals and attracts people across the island for shopping. It is definitely worth a visit for you to learn more about how locals live and experience the Mauritian vibe.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) is a combination of 3 learning steps. You are guided by a PADI qualified instructor on a ratio of 1:4.

1- A 20-30 minute theory session where scuba gear and its use is introduced to the diver, explanations on safety, skill developments, underwater sign language and the importance of protecting the natural ocean environment and it's inhabitants.

2- There is a 1st confined dive in the shallows at the beach between 0.6 - 1.8 meters for skill practice focused on mask clearing, removal and recovery of your mouthpiece and buoyancy exercises using the jacket and breathing.

3- If all 3 exercises have been performed satisfactorily, a 2nd fun dive without exercises is carried out further out on the reef in a depth ranging from 6-12 meters for a duration of 30-45 minutes, according to the divers air consumption.
