1: Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou

Aït-ben-Haddou is a ksar (Ighrem, in Berber) of Morocco inscribed on the list of the world heritage of UNESCO, in the province of Ouarzazate. It is part of the municipality of Aït Zineb. This is a striking example of traditional southern Moroccan architecture, on the side of a hill at the top of which was a collective attic (an agadir)

2: Kasbah du Pacha el Glaoui

The Kasbah Telouet, sometimes also called Glaoui Palace, is a kasbah built in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Located in the small Berber village of Telouet, in the rural town of Telouet, in the High Atlas Mountains, Morocco, its most famous occupant is probably Thami El Glaou. The current kasbah was built in 1860 by the Glaoua, next to an old kasbah whose remains are still visible today. It was subsequently greatly enlarged during the first half of the twentieth century by Thami El Glaoui. Legend has it that 300 workers worked for three years decorating ceilings and walls. These are made either of finely chiselled stucco, sometimes of zelliges for the walls, and cedar painted for the ceiling1. The roofs are made of ceramic tiles painted green. The result is a set of huge buildings, whose interior decoration shows an important wealth.

A day excursion to the Atlas Mountains and Imlil is one of the most magnificent day trips you can do from Marrakech if you want to experience the genuine and rustic side of Morocco. Imlil is located in the heart of the Atlas Mountains. We will begin our day trip to Imlil at 9:00 a.m. from Marrakech in a 4WD vehicle or a mini van for the 1 hour and thirty minute drive south up the Moulay Brahim Gorges, and the Berber village of Asni very popular for its weekly market every Saturday, then to Imlil Crossing a vibrant green valley that remains fresh and lush even during the hottest days of the summer.

Imlil is a little settlement that may be found on the foothills of Toubkal mountain, which is the highest peak in Morocco. Because of its advantageous location and close proximity to a number of Berber communities, Imlil serves as the primary starting point for many treks and walks that go to the summit of Toubkal. It is also the place where mountain guides and mules may be hired. Arrival in Imlil, here we will leave our vehicle and begin a walk for approximately one hour in the direction of the south to the Berber village of Aroumd (Aremd) (1843m).

Along the way, we will pass through the hamlets of ait souka, Targa, and Imoula, up and down the stark slopes, with the jagged Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal Massif before us - Jbels Aguelzi Aroumd is a village in the Assif At Mizane Valley that will be our next destination. It is built on a large moraine spur and appears to be house after house stacked on top of one another. It looks out over ancient terraced fields of barley, corn, and vegetables and is always surrounded by almond and walnut trees. After that, we continue on for an additional half an hour to reach our lunch destination, which will be served on top of a lovely patio among a Berber family in the hamlet of Armed.

Leave the vehicle at Imlil to head into the village, where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea. Continue your trek for 2 to 3 hours, hiking up to Armed, the highest and the biggest village in the Imlil Valley. Trek to the Berber village of Ait Souka, passing the hamlets of Ait Mizan, Targa and Imoula en route.

Stop on the way at Tamatert, and take in the glorious views of ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn and vegetables surrounded by cherry and walnut trees. Continue for another 30 minutes to arrive at the home of a Berber family in Ait Souka, where you can enjoy another mint tea and lunch in home of a Berber family.

Bab Agnaou is a monumental gate forming part of the ramparts of Marrakech in the Kasbah district, in Medina. This heritage bears witness to the grandiose past of the Almohade Berber dynasty, which came to power in the 12th century and had its seat in Marrakech. Its Islamic Caliphate extended from Cordoba in Andalusia to Tripoli in Libya. Bab Agnaou is one of the 19 gates that allows you to enter inside the ramparts of the city of Marrakech. This gate (bab in Arabic) served as an entrance to the administrative and military complex of the Caliphal Kasbah, citadel of power, from the south of the city. Flanked by two cannons, it is one of the most impressive gates of Marrakech.

Kasbah Mosque is a historical mosque located near the Saadian Tombs in the Kasbah. It is also known as Moulay El Yazid Mosque as it is located on Place Moulay Yazid. The original mosque was destroyed in a gunpowder explosion in 1569. The whole building was reconstructed in 1960 and has pretty impressive architecture.
