As this area forms part of our Kuiseb Delta Concession, we are the only activity operator allowed to access this area. If weather and tides allow, we will drive right to the Sandwich Harbour Lagoon along the beach, one of Southern Africas richest and unique wetlands and one of five RAMSAR sites (Ramsar site no. 743) in Namibia.

One is aquifer-fed and supports typical emergent vegetation, but is slowly disappearing due to natural causes. The second, under tidal influence, consists of mudflats and raised shingle bars. Wedged between the sea and the Namib Dunes, it is one of Namibia's most important coastal wetlands, supporting eight endangered species among the large numbers of wading birds. Several archaeological sites dating back 1,000 years exist within the site. Human activities have included fishing, guano collection, and hunting. If our vehicles cannot drive all along the beach to get to Sandwich Harbour because of high tide, you will get a chance to see the lagoon area from one of our many beautiful lookout spots and will have the time to walk and explore. We have lots of time to stop along the way for photography.

The Sandwich Harbour Lagoon, and it's rich wetlands, is a Ramsar site (one of five in Namibia) and we always try to reach it via the beach.
There are various stops and ample opportunity for some breathtaking photos. One of the stops also includes some light snacks, homemade bakes, beverages and sparkling wine. Some common sightings include animals that are desert adapted like the black-backed jackal, fog-basking beetle, dancing spider (white lady of the Namib), golden mole, Springbok, Oryx, ostrich, brown hyena and gecko. The Lagoon and Saltpans are home to large variety of waders.
This is a full day excursion and our vehicles usually only return after 17h30 allowing the for the full utilisation of the golden sunset.

Upon arrival, you will explore the unique plant life and terrain of this arid region. Next, you will drive through the Swakop River Valley and in to the Moon Landscape. Created by the winds that reduced mountains to spectacular rock formations and sand, this vastly-eroded valley has an appearance similar to that of the moon's surface. From here, you will proceed for a visit to Welwitschia Valley, where thousands of welwitschia plants are scattered about. A stop will be made to view these fascinating plants, along with a variety of interesting lichen plants. By 1907 it was extended by 50m and widened with 5m. However, by 1911 it was decided that the wooden jetty should be replaced by a steel jetty and construction was commenced in 1912. Over time the jetty became very popular amongst anglers and people who enjoy leisure walks and wants to enjoy a view of Swakopmund. Sadly no major repairs were done to the jetty in years and as a result it was considered unsafe for pedestrians and was closed in 1983. Fortunately funds were raised, repairs were done and the jetty was re-opened in October 2006. The Jetty 1905 restaurant was opened in 2010 at the end of the jetty, with breathtaking views of the sea and Swakopmund. 1. You will be picked up at our office and taken to Sandwich Harbour in our 4x4's. At Sandwich Harbour, you will get to enjoy the views and the exhilarating rides over the dunes. The vehicles will then take you to Pelican Point Peninsula, where a Beach Braai set-up awaits for lunch (4 h)
2. Enjoy a lunch with fresh proteins, salads, and breads along with alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 h)
3. After lunch, our planing catamarans will take you on a short transfer across the harbour back to the Waterfront to conclude your tour (45 min)
