Northeast Scotland Vacation Packages

Northeast Scotland is home to the 'Granite City,' Aberdeen and Grampian, as well as Angus and Dundee; a region with multifaceted appeal, home to more castles than anywhere in the UK, with a big, glitzy city strewn about by quaint fishing villages. A plethora of attractions includes distilleries, castles, plus sandy beaches and the majestic Grampian Mountains. Geographically diverse, the landscape is largely undulating farmland, but there are lovely wooded glens, dramatic coastline, and rocky cliffs!

The capital of the region is Aberdeen, home of admired Romantic poet Lord Byron & Scotland's third largest city; The Grampian Mountains dominate the western border, where visitors find Deeside, largely unknown, save for Balmoral Estate, made famous by the Royal family. To the south are expansive, abandoned sandy beaches leading to the Ythan Estuary, where picturesque fishing villages are tucked into the coves. Dramatic, rocky cliffs help frame the east and shelter the borders of the Cairngorms National Park. Heading north leads to Scotland's most prolific whisky producing area, Speyside. Located to the south of Aberdeen, Angus and Dundee offer the ultimate region in which to wind down and savor a break! Angus is predominantly a farming center, and features, accordingly, some of the greatest scenery in the northeast! Its coast is home to scarlet cliffs and sweeping bays. The extravagant Glamis Castle calls the northern heather-covered hills home, and is well worth the visit. In the south is Dundee, known as the 'City of Discovery,' which is enjoying its emerging reputation as a revitalized cultural center, shedding its depressing, post-industrial image with a vibrant educational scene. The surroundings area enjoys numerous historical sites and fun activities, from handsome Broughty Castle and Museum, to historic buildings in Forfar, to golf in Carnoustie, and the natural beauty awaiting discovery in Glen Isla.
