WHAT TO EXPECT

Join us and experience the charm of the Arctic wilderness! You will create memories that last forever.

No previous knowledge is required to drive a snowmobile. All you need is a regular driver's license, and it's as simple as it is fun. A thorough safety introduction and driving instruction will be given before the trip starts. You will ride in pairs, a driver and a passenger on each snowmobile, with the opportunity to change seats during the trip. We drive into the remote mountain plateau Finnmarksvidda, one of Europe's last wilderness areas. We follow the old postal path up to the highest point of the plains. The temperature on the plateau can vary from a few plus degrees to well below freezing. We can not promise you windless days and clear skies, but whatever the weather, the nature on the plateau will be just as magnificent and impressive. Hot drinks and a snack / cake give a cozy touch to the outdoor experience.

You will start your adventure with a 30 min drive up to our historical Gargia Lodge. From the lodge we will embark on an adventure into the Gargia forrest. Along the 2km long trail you will get to breath in the crisp forrest air and maybe experience wildlife also. After around 1,5 hour we will reach the waterfall, a magnificent conductor, orchestrating its dance over the ancient rocks. On the riverbank we will enjoy a short rest with coffee, tea and snacks. The tour is 2km each way and it take about 1,5 hours to reach the waterfall.

Join us for a ride along Norway's longest historical postal route. While the route was operated in the 19th century 30 different reindeer herding families got their mail delivered to them along this road. You will get a glimpse of what it used to take to deliver a mail up here in the sometimes-harsh, rough conditions of the arctic. We will take you on journey, following part of the original route between Gargia and Suolovuopmi Mountain Lodge.

This trip gives you an exhilarating way of exploring the arctic scenery just right outside our doorstep. While driving through the magical winter landscape, there is a possibility to see wildlife as well. Once we reach the highest point of the plains you will be impressed by the vast views that Europes largest mountain plateau has to offer.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We follow the old postal road up to the highest point of the plains. The temperature on the plateau can vary from a few plus degrees to well below freezing. We cannot promise you windless days and clear skies, but whatever the weather, the nature on the plateau will be just as magnificent and impressive.

The Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel is the World's Northernmost Igloo Hotel. Each year experienced artists and builders come together to build a new and unique hotel with a special theme. The Igloo Hotel has an area of 2,500 m2 and it takes 250 tonnes of ice and 7,000 m3 of snow to build it. On this trip we combine the excitement of snowmobiling with experiencing the northern lights dancing across the sky. We take you along the old postal road up to the very edge of Finnmarksvidda to a mountain range called Beskardes.

Meet us at our Æverntyr Adventure Store in the city center 5-10 minutes before the start of the Tour. From here we will drive you to Gargia Valley, approx. 25km from Alta.

We arrive at Gargia Lodge. Here you will meet your guide and get a briefing about todays trip. You will also receive thermosuits, boots and gloves for the trip.

After getting dressed you will receive a safety briefing on the snowmobiles. Now we are ready and can start our adventure.

We will arrive at Beskades. Here we will take a short stop and enjoy the amazing view in all directions before heading back down to Gargia Lodge.

First we will put on warm clothes, especially during the winter time since it can be really cold on the sled.
then we introduce you to our dogs. They all love cuddles and you will love it too after meeting them!
Then, we will show you the sled and how to drive it if you wish. But Health and fitness must be good to be able to drive yourself This is for the safety of you and the dogs . The trip on the sled will last around 45 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on conditions and temperature and will allow you to discover the amazing landscapes of the famous Alta river an to see how much our dogs love to go running.

After the tour, you can cuddle again our lovely huskies and we will also offer you a warm beverage (coffee, tea or hot chocolate).

The whole experience will last around two hours, but if you just want to go dogsledding, it will last 45 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on conditions and temperature, the time depends on temperature and weather. We drive on the dogs' terms and always think of the dogs

Enjoy an easy and beautiful day trip to the south side of Seiland island and get a taste of its unique nature.

Seiland is a unique and beautiful part of Western Finnmarks island nature, with small and large fjords surrounded by steep mountains that plunge into the sea. Seilands two glaciers are the northernmost in Scandinavia. The steep coastal mountains are a breeding ground for a rich population of birds of prey. The ultrabasic bedrock in the south gives rise to a particularly lush plant life. We will also have the opportunity to experience wildlife, such as seals and sea eagles up close.

On this trip we take you on an exciting RIB boat ride across the Altafjord, past picturesque mountains towards the far end of the fjord. We will ride past Seilands lush green mountains and go ashore in Bekkarfjord, Seilands most beautiful fjord.

OVERVIEW

Explore breathtaking fjord landscapes and the wildlife of the Arctic while searching for the worlds largest mammal: the whale.
In November to January, the orcas, humpback whales and other whales gather in the fjords close to Alta for their big herring-feast. These gentle giants enjoy their "food platter", and to witness this remarkable sight will give you memories for life.
And this experience does not end here. The area is also home to the Arctic dolphins, the majestic sea eagle, with a wingspan up to 2.5 metres and other seabirds - species.
We use different boats according to the size of the group and the weather conditions, but our local guide will always accompany our group. Under the boat transfer to the hot-spot and in periods when the whales are diving, you can stay inside in the warm cabin and enjoy hot chocolate and snacks.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Alta (Pass by)

After the pick up, our guide will inform you about the itinerary of the day and will take you to a short tour by minibus in Alta Center, where you will be able to see the Northern Lights Cathedral and get to know interesting information about the history of this important city in the North of Norway

Altafjord (Pass by)

While driving by the Altafjord, our guide will tell you more about the history of this fjord from the stone age until modern times. We will also pass by the Rock Carvings Museum, inscribed into UNESCOs World Heritage List as the only prehistoric monument in Norway. The tour from Alta to Burdfjord will take aprox. 1,5 hours passing through majestic fjord landscapes.

1: Burfjord

Arriving to Burfjord, it will take us 1 min. walk to the pier, where our captain will take you to an exciting boat tour on the fjord searching for wildlife and whales. We will sail for 3 hours into Kvænangsfjorden while admiring the fantastic coastal landscape.

Alta (Pass by)

After this adventure, we will drive back to Alta aprox 1,5 hours, passing again beautiful fjord landscapes. The entire tour is estimated to take 6 hours, including the transportation Alta - Burfjord - Alta.

Immerse yourself in some of Norways wildest and most untamed sceneryand enjoy an adventurous way to exploreon this half-day, small-group snowmobile tour. WHAT TO EXPECT

Experience freedom joining in a snowmobile safari up in the mountain plateau of Finnmarksvidda where you will discover a different beauty in the Arctic nature and enjoy the constant change of lights. Some people say that being on the plateau is like reaching the end of the world. And there is where we plan to take you in this adventurous tour.
Driving a snowmobile is fun and a great way to be in direct contact with nature. Before the tour, we will give a short instruction on how to drive a snowmobile and will later offer warm beverages for you to enjoy during the trip.
You can also join the tour as a passenger, but it is important that choose the right option when you book the activity shared mobile or single driver. All drivers most have a regular driving license for cars or motorcycle.
Throughout the tour there will be some stops for taking photos of the majestic landscape and our guide will be happy to share with you his knowledge about the history of the area.
This is a real experience for truly adventurous people.

All the drivers most bring a regular driver license for cars or motorcycle.

We require a minimum of 2 participants for the tour.

The minimum age for this trip is 16 years old for the passenger and 18 years old for the driver.

Cancellations can happen due to weather conditions. In this case, a full refund will be provided.

Remember to take on warm clothing (first layer preferably wool and not cotton, second layer fleece or cotton), wool socks (not cotton), hat, mittens (not gloves) and scarf.

The passenger weight should not be over 75 kg.

The activity includes risk by driving your own snowmobile on your car driving licence. Even if instructions are given about how to drive a snowmobile the responsible person is the person driving the snowmobile. You will be asked to sign a contract to confirm this before participating in the tour.
