OVERVIEWThis unique tour will take you from the city centre and through the local living areas before leaving the asphalt on to gravel roads and easy paths until we reach the bottom of the climb up to peak Keiservarden.
From there it is a 4,5 km ride 360 metres uphill - but no worries, your eBike will help keeping the heart rate down, although a little self effort and a light sweat is necessary.
At the top you get a fantastic view of 360 degrees - and a prime location for watching the midnight sun.
Downhill is easy and as exiting as you preferr - just keep your speed at a comfortable level and don't scare those on a hike up.

As we hike up to about 170 m.a.s. we will tell you the story of this trail and the city. When we are coming to the top of the roof of Mo I Rana, you will have an awesome view over the city.

The place got its name because a woman stole a cow at Loftfjellgården and pulled it up the mountainside to the top. It was later called Tjuvtrappa, and she took the cow further down towards Selfors. The place has no stairs; there has never been one either, but perhaps it is called Tjuvtrappa because the terrain is located in stairs up from Loftfjellgården.
Many families have lived there throughout the ages and the area has been inhabited for a long time.

The Hidden Valley: The Børvasstindane mountain range contains the signature mountains of Bodø. Åselidalen The Hidden Valley cuts into the mountains between the mountain ridges Åselitindan and Falkflågtindan.
Peaks: The valley is surrounded by jagged peaks, all over 1,000 metres above sea level. Two of them, PerKalsa and Børtind, are favourites among the locals heading for a steep day hike.

Stone stairs several alternative routes lead to the top. In 2016 Sherpas from Nepal built stone stairs along our route, which saves the terrain from wear. This also makes the hike both easier and more fun. Keiservarden and the path are seldom deserted, so be prepared to meet the locals from Bodø on your way.
Keiservarden (The Emperor`s Cairn) is named after German Emperor Wilhelm II, who visited the hilltop in 1891 on one of his visits to Norway. They will hand out, and give instructions regarding the safety equipment before we go climbing. After an introduction to the equipment you will be guided along our sherpa trail to the Via Ferratas starting point at sea level. The routes are exposed and requires some physical strength.
Our guide will join you on your climbing from sea level along the vertical cliff. The via ferratas exit is at 57 meters above sealevel and offer great views of the ocean and surrounding mountains.
Guests have to dress according to the weather. Proper clothing is important both for safety and to have a good experience.
