The heart of Nerja is its spectacular Balcón de Europa, the "Balcony of Europe", a magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff, once the site of the great Moorish castle, with sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the small coves and beaches below, against an awesome backdrop of hazy blue mountains.
However, Nerja most spectacular attraction is undoubtedly its fascinating caves, located just three kilometres from the center of town. They include archaeological treasures such as paintings over 20,000 years old and other Prehistoric remains. One of the enormous natural caverns has been transformed into a concert hall, where many performances are staged during the summer.

Among its virtues stands out the water, of intense blue, the sand, very pleasant because it does not overflow you but it does not have large stones, and the isolation, is far from any town, and halfway between Agua Amarga and Carboneras.Monumento Natural Isla de San Andres (Pass by)These are two islets ("Isla Grande" and "Isla Chica") of volcanic origin off the coast of Carboneras, 400 m from the beach of La Puntica, adjacent to the natural park of Cabo de Gata-Níjar.
The main natural value lies in the richness of its seabed. The dark color of its crystal clear waters is due to the considerable meadows of oceanic posidonia that surround the bottom of the islets.
