The Gothic Quarter - also known as Barri Gotic, is the area that stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietana, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere and is the center of the old city of Barcelona. It is known as the Gothic Quarter, as it used to be the location of a Roman village and some of the remnants still remain.

You will visit the Jewish Quarter, known as the Call, a collection of streets in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter that was established by a group of Jewish merchants in the 13th century. This section of the area was established because this group of people wasn't welcome anywhere else on the mainland along with everyone else, they built their own space to live, build churches or synagogues and freely practice any religion they wanted in peace.

Your tour will end with entrance tickets and a guided tour of Barcelona Cathedral. The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia is a gorgeous Gothic cathedral in the old center of the bustling Catalan city; it is also the seat of the Archbishop of Spain.

Construction of the Cathedral began at the end of the 13th century during the reign of King James II of Aragon and took around 150 years to complete. It is the former headquarters of the General Council of Andorra and was built in 1580 as the ancestral home and defense tower of the Busquets family. In 1702 it was acquired by the General Council. In June 2003 it was listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest in Andorra.

Avinguda Meritxell (Pass by)

It is an avenue that crosses Andorra la Vella from west to east. It forms part of the old royal road and the traditional road of the valleys of Andorra, today converted into an avenue and the country's main commercial axis. Along the avenue we find shops, several shopping centers and department stores such as Pyrénées, Escale and Hyper Andorra. Almost all the banks in the country have their headquarters in this commercial area. The avenue bears the name of the patron saint of Andorra, the Virgin of Meritxell, whose sanctuary is located in Meritxell (Canillo).

Depending on the size of your group, and the traffic conditions on the day of the tour, you will return either to the main office or to Place Catalunya, which is just an easy 3-5 minute walk away.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Depart from a central Barcelona, and relax during a scenic journey toward Baga in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan. Marvel at the majestic perimeter of rocky peaks in the Cadi-Moixero National Park as you arrive in Baga. Tour the village and it's medieval church and square, before enjoying you some free time to explore alone.

Traverse the French border on route to your next stop, the charming ancient spa town of Ax-Les-Thermes. After your guide recommends some of the best natural fountains to visit and soak your feet in, indulge in some free time to enjoy the healing waters and browse the local artisan shops.

Next, meet back at the bus to head toward Andorra. Travel through the beautiful Pyrenees Alps and cross the Pas de la Casa, a high-mountain pass with multiple photo opportunities.

Descend into Andorra, stopping at a typical mountain valley where you get a glimpse of stone huts dotting the mountainside, a Roman church, and embark on a short hike to experience the landscape.

From here, continue on to Andorra de la Vella, Andorra's charming capital. Explore the city and indulge in some duty-free shopping before climbing aboard the minivan for the return trip to Barcelona.

Depart from Barcelona at 7am, and relax during the scenic journey to Bagà. You will have the chance to marvel at the majestic rocky peaks in the Cadi-Moixeró National Park as we drive to Bagà.

In Bagà, as this sleepy village comes to life, you can get a fresh pastry or sandwich in the local bakery, or a coffee in one of the many typical cafes, before rejoining your guide who will give you a short walking tour of the village before leaving you free time to explore alone.

From Bagà, we will head deeper into the countryside as we drive towards the French border.

11.00am - Your next stop is the charming and beautiful ancient spa town of Ax-Les-Thermes.

1.30pm - The route takes you through the beautiful Pyrenees Alps to Andorra. One the way we will cross the Pas de la Casa, an amazing high mountain pass with some stunning photo opportunities.

2.30pm - Andorra la Vella is the capital of the small but stunning country of Andorra, located high in the east Pyrenees, between France and Spain.

This will be our last stop of the day, but you will have enough time to do a little bit of duty free shopping, grab a quick bargain or walk around its old stone streets and houses.

At about 3:45pm, we will return to the bus and head back to Barcelona via a different route.

This drive takes you through dramatic gorges, past verdant farming land, and alongside lakes and rivers, before the landscape levels out and the lush tones of green of the fields and the shining grey of the mountain rocks are replaced by the dusty orange and brown hues of this arid landscape.

You will stop enroute for a chance to stretch your legs and quench your thirst, before arriving back in town at about 7:30pm

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Pont de la Margineda

It is a medieval bridge from XIV century. It is flowing water underneath all year around. The vegetation is different in each season. It is located in the south of the country, near the Spanish border about 850 meters above the sea level. Near the bridge is known used to live the first inhabitants in the current territory of Andorra, about 12,000 years ago.

2: Casa de la Vall

It is an old house where took place the Andorra's government since 1580 till 2011. The entrance to the place is voluntary, and costs 5 . If some of the members are not interesting in Casa de la Vall, they can spend 1 hour doing shopping and walking up the streets of the Andorra la Vella Old Town.

3: Mirador del Roc del Quer

This is a spectacular view point located about 1,950 meters above the sea level. From this place we can see a tin sculpture representing a man watching the views surrounded by a bottom glass platform. The mountain views belong to the Canillo parish: capital town and some of their surrounding like some picks and ski runs.

The top of the mountains will have some snow at least 10 months of the year. It is an optional stop and the cost is 5 per person (not included; if the cafe is closed they will only accept cash payment in euros).

4: Coll d'Ordino

The name of this attraction is just Ordino. A small village, capital of one of the seven municipalities of Andorra. In Ordino we can walk up in the narrow streets where we can see some XVII century homes, a nice church, famliy homes, and even a few cafes in the main street.

I can also show you another charming village in Andorra, smaller than Ordino and with almost no services, but it will be a secret between you and me.

5: Ordino

From the quick growth from the second half of XX century, there are still a few towns still preserving the charm from the past. One of these examples is Ordino.

In Ordino we can walk down the streets in the old town where we will check out some houses from XVII century, like Casa Rosell or Casa Areny-Plandolit, as well as its barroque church, Saint Cornelius and Saint Cebrian.

For the ones who prefer watch a really old church built in the middle ages I can recommend you Sant Miquel d'Engolasters (XII century) or Santa Coloma (late VIII-early IX century), this last one cost 7 and includes a small museum with an audiovisual experience and shows three old paintings XII-XIII, ripped out in XX century from andorran churches but recovered by the country.
