This artwork was inaugurated in 1983 without the presence of its author because of his health issues. He died just a few months after it, at the age of 90.
Woman and Bird, was one of the first expressions of public art in Barcelona during the democracy.
Located in the Parque Joan Miró, next to a big artificial lake, the sculpture was made of concrete and counts with 22 meters of height.
It represents the femenine silhouette with a hat and the bird can be found on the hat. The representation of the woman is solved by a hollowed out shape covered in black ceramics that reminds of the shape of the exterior of a woman's genitalia, in the author's language.
The exterior of this sculpture is covered by red, yellow, green and blue colors (the artist's most common color palette) in trencadís (broken tile mosaics) and made by the ceramist Joan Gardy Artigas.15: Placa d'EspanyaBarcelona's Plaza España is one of the most emblematic points of the city.
