WHAT TO EXPECT

During the walk, we will navigate the waters of the Bay of Cadiz and cross the bridge of the Constitution and that of Carranza. Cadiz will be like a postcard in which we will admire its architectures and its beauties. 1: Cadiz

The city of Cadiz is situated on a peninsula pushing itself out into the bay of Cadiz. It is nearly almost completely surrounded by water.
Named after the Phoenicians Gadir, who founded Cadiz as a trading post during 1100 BC. It was later controlled by the Carthaginians, and the became a thriving Roman port. During the Visigoths and Moors, it sank into oblivion, but then attained great splendour in the early part of the 16th century as a maritime port for the journey to the newly founded lands of America.

Sir Francis Drake of England, raided this important area in the struggle to gain complete control of this trade route to the New World, and withstood a fierce siege by Napoleon's army.

During the early part of the 19th century, Cadiz became the center and bastion of Spain's anti-monarchist liberal movement, and as a result, the Spain's first Constitution was declared here in 1812.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Make your way to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and present your voucher for admission. The shows vary with the day, using between six and eight styles of choreography that features different parts of the Andalusian riding tradition.

See doma vaquera, based on techniques honed by traditional cattle herders, or watch the exquisite precision of classical dressage, as horses execute maneuvers such as the colts, airs on horseback, pas de deux, passage and piaffer, and more.

In displays of carriage driving, horses don a classical harness to demonstrate the old fashioned art, and in work in hand, the horses follow commands to carry out classical Haute École dressage exercises. And in the coordinated carousel maneuver, horses and riders work together for a grand finale in the center of the arena.

When the show concludes, youll be in the heart of Jerez, close to some of the citys top historic sites, cafes, and destinations.

1: Fundacion Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre

Each show consists of between six and eight different choreographies, with the same degree of difficulty and entertainment value and scheduled by the school according to the following repertoire;

Doma Vaquera; a demonstration of the skills of this Spanish riding discipline based on traditional cattle herding. The horseman rides his horse around the arena using only one hand, first trotting and later galloping: Changing the rhythm and then performing pirouettes and arreones (breaking into a gallop).

Classical dressage; 'The Colts', 'Airs on Horseback', 'Pas de Deux' "Passage and Piaffer", "Domino on Horseback", "Airs above the ground" and "Fantasy", are just a few of the coreographies which make up the repertoire of the performance. Horses carry out advanced equestrian exercises to pieces of classical music that accompany them while they perform in the arena

Carriage driving; horses also demonstrate their abilities by drawing carriages. These horse-drawn carriages were originally used for transport but are now relegated to sport and exhibitions, using classical harness and driven by coachmen, who dexterously demonstrate this exciting skill.

Work in hand; The horse also obeys its rider even when the horseman is not in the saddle by carrying out classical Haute École dressage exercises such as levades, caprioles, courbettes, piaffe (between pillars), the Spanish walk and long reins.

Carrousel; A group of horses and riders, in unison, perform advanced equestrian exercises in the arena to provide a most fitting end to the performance.

3: Murallas de San Carlos

The walls of San Carlos, are located, raised by the sea, next to the Plaza España, in the old town of Cadiz. Its construction was completed in 1784 by the military engineer Antonio Hurtado. This bastion could house 90 artillery pieces and contained 55 vaults for different uses. In some of these vaults, wells were built to store the snow that was brought from the mountains of Cadiz.
