Subotica is the second-largest city in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, situated just six miles south of the border with Hungary. It is particularly well-known for having the highest concentration of Art Nouveau-style buildings in the country, such as its picturesque City Hall, Synagogue, and National Theatre buildings. Other styles feature prominently in the cityscape as well, such as the Baroque-era Cathedral of St. Theresa of Avila. Because this cultured city is bursting with playful Art Nouveau halls and palaces from the beginning of the 20th century. The tour de force is the City Hall and its 45-metre tower, but this is just one of many masterworks that you have to cram into a sightseeing tour.
