WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Peterskapelle (Peter's Chapel)

As the tour starts you hear the fire horn followed by the invocation pray. The Nightwatchman tells you about his hard life in the middle age. With the help of a projector he introduces you to medieval Lucerne. You have a detailed look into the Martini plan, the first city map of Lucerne, dating from 1597. You see the route on the map and you will discover that many of the buildings on the map are still here today. You see St. Peters Chapel, the first church in town dating back to the 12th century. Next to it you see the first private stone house of Lucerne and you find out where the expression "stone rich" comes from.

2: Chapel Bridge

Did you know that the Water Tower was built some decades before the Chapel Bridge? In fact the Water Tower was built in the late 13th century while the Chapel Bridge dates back to 1365. You see pictures of the inside of the Water Tower and hear about the torture chamber, the dungeon and the secret room. Further you learn from where the Chapel Bridge got its name from.

3: Furrengasse

You walk round the corner to Kapellplatz and hear about live in the middle age in the blooming Republic of Lucerne. Walking through the Furrengasse you learn about its Ghost and the Toggeli (Incubus aka "love robber") around him.

4: Kornmarkt

You arrive at the the Town Hall Square called Kornmarkt. You learn about the Renaissance Town Hall and its Tower with the clock without minute hand. You hear the story of the "Giant of Reiden" and you see the Lucerne Foot and Elle, the official measures of Old Lucerne.

5: Brandgässli

In the Brandgässli Alley you get to know about the Riot of Lucerne before you continue to the former fish market, known today as the wine market.

6: Weinmarkt

On the Weinmarkt you see the old guest house signs and admire the frescos on the houses. On the former pharmacy house of Renward Cysat you read the latin sentence: "Amor medicabillis nullis herbis" which meams: "There is no cure for a broken heart."
While listening to what the Nightwatchman has to say about reformation and counter reformation, you enjoy a glass of the best water Lucerne. Then you pass the lower wine market, where once the pillory was located.

7: Im Zöpfli

Right at the riverside square called Zöpfli, you hear about law and order in old Lucerne. You see projected paintings about the methods of prosecution, interrogation and corporal punishment of the Middle Age in Lucerne.

9: Ritterscher Palace Lucerne

As you continue the Nightwatchman shows you some Guardian Demons. You stop at the legendary house of Lux Ritter and you hear why the first two floors look different than the third one. Then you hear the story of Hans von Trient, the unlucky stonemason. Another Highlight is the presentation of the seven paintings of the Dance of Death. You will see the pictures projected on a house wall and you hear details about from your Guide.

Master your first turns on the snow in Switzerlands Jungfrau region!

Meet your tour guide at the designated meeting point in Lucerne and begin a scenic drive through the breathtaking Bernese Oberland. Stop in the charming village of Interlaken for about 30 minutes to stretch your legs and enjoy a drink or snack.

Continue to Grindelwald, where your certified ski instructor will help you collect your skis, boots, helmet, and other safety equipment at the hire shop. This tour is intended for amateur as well as serious photography enthusiasts with an interest to visit and photograph the beauty of the Swiss Alps together with its many traditions and culture . No prior expertise or experience in photography is necessary, as your photographer-guide will be there to assist you at every level. You may carry any camera a simple aim-and-shoot or a DSLR. Travel enthusiasts who are not photographers but keen to experience the multiple facets of Switzerland can also benefit from the tour.

Can I bring my non-photographer partner with me?

Yes, you can. We visit many beautiful places in Switzerland. Having a good time during the trip is as much on the agenda as photography is. Your partner will enjoy the journey with us.

I am not a keen photographer. But I want to visit Switzerland. Can I still join?

Yes. The answer is exactly the same as in the case of previous question. We visit many beautiful places in Switzerland with a spectacular natural wonders, we witness the best Alpine Festivals during the whole year and always with the idea in mind of having long lasting memories in all our photo tours. For us fun is as much on the agenda as photography is!

OVERVIEW

If you want to walk in the mountains on your Switzerland vacation but dont know where to start, opt for a full-day hike with a local guide. Walking in a small group of no more than eight people privately guided by your hiking guides, youll head into the hills on a trail carefully chosen by your guide to match the weather conditions and the group. If you want the guide all to yourself, upgrade to a private tour when you book.

Shared Group Tours: Pickup only in Lucerne, between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM. You will receive your exact pickup time no later than the day before. Please be ready on time.

Private Tours: Pickup available in all selected areas, with flexible starting times between 5:00 AM and 11:00 AM. In some cases, the start time can be adjusted depending on guests preferences or weather conditions.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Swiss Alps

First, we drive with the minivan to the starting point of our unique hike.

Summer:
Our main destination is the breathtaking Göscheneralpsee trail, where we traverse lush meadows, serene forests, and a stunning glacial lake.

Winter:
Our winter snowshoe hikes explore some of Switzerlands most beautiful trails, with favorites including Engelberg Titlis, Langis, and Rigi. Each destination offers its own magic from peaceful, snow covered forests and open alpine meadows to breathtaking views.

Since mountain weather can be unpredictable, we remain flexible and may adjust our route to ensure the best experience. Our priority is always selecting the safest and most rewarding trail for the day.

Regardless of the chosen route, each hike unfolds as a picturesque adventure, offering breathtaking views and unforgettable landscapes throughout the approximately 3-4 hour trek. Enjoy the diversity of experiences as you traverse these stunning locations, each with its own unique charm and allure.

2: Lake Lucerne

After the hike, if the weather is good, well head to the lake for a refreshing dip and some time to relax. The exact spot depends on the hike we choose that day. In case of bad weather, well instead enjoy a cozy stop at a bistro.

If needed, we can also make a quick stop at a supermarket on the way. This way, the day ends with a delightful and flexible experience, no matter the conditions.

This experience lets you travel with a guide all the way from Lucerne to Chur, and then along the Glacier Express route with a prebooked ticket. Lake Zurich (Pass by)

The elongated, slightly curved shape of Lake Zurich resembles a banana. The lake is around 28 kilometers long from Rapperswil to Zurich

Walensee (Pass by)

The Walensee is a lake in the eastern Prealps in Switzerland and is located in the cantons of St. Gallen and Glarus.

1: Chur

Chur is a city in the Alps and the capital of the canton of Graubünden in eastern Switzerland. In the car-free old town, winding streets lead to the three-aisled 13th-century Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the courtyard of the Bishop's Palace.
Here the Glacier Express journey ends and you change after the city visit to the regular trains.

Ruinaulta Rheinschlucht (Pass by)

The Ruinaulta or Rhine Gorge is a gorge of up to 400 meters deep and around 13 kilometers long in the Vorderrhein between Ilanz and the mouth of the Hinterrhein near Reichenau in the canton of Graubünden

2: Disentis

The winter sports and health resort is located in the upper part of the Surselva. At the end of the 17th century, a new monastery complex was built in the baroque style. The Glacier Express train stops here for 10 minutes

Oberalp Pass (Pass by)

The Oberalp Pass connects the villages of Sedrun in the Surselva in the canton of Graubünden with Andermatt in the Urseren Valley in the canton of Uri in Switzerland

3: Andermatt

Andermatt is a village in the Ursen Valley of the Swiss Alps. The cable car takes visitors to the Gemsstock ski area and a chairlift connects the village with the easier slopes on the Nätschen. North of Andermatt one of numerous hiking trails leads to the Teufelsbrücke over the Schöllenen Gorge. The Glacier Express train stops here for 10 minutes.

Goms (Pass by)

The highest valley section of the Upper Valais between the source of the Rhone and the valley step of Grengiols near Brig is called Goms. It is the easternmost part of the canton of Valais. In the east it is limited by the Furka Pass between Galenstock and Pizzo Rotondo and in the west by the Weisshorn. The uppermost part of the valley is still called Obergoms.

4: Brig

Brig is an alpine town in the canton of Valais in southern Switzerland. It lies at the foot of the Simplon Pass, which leads to the Italian border. A stop on the Glacier Express train, Brig is known for its thermal baths, the Sebastian Chapel and the 17th-century Stockalper Castle.
At Brig you leave the Glacier Express train and after the city visit, you travel back to your origin departure point by regular intercity train. From Brig to Bern it takes one hour, from Bern to Zürich/Basel or Luzern another hour.
