The crystal clear, turquoise waters invite you for a refreshing swim. Although called a hot spring, water in Kikuletwa is not hot, but rather refreshing since the water source is from the Kilimanjaro mountain itself. Most of the visitors arrive around noon, but we arrive early in the morning when it is still quiet. Therefore, with some luck we will spot the blue monkeys in the tree tops, before they later dissapear in the bush.
This is probably the best place to swim. Emanating from within the earth, the geo-thermally warmed water is constantly renewed and is therefore very fresh and clear and clean. Its a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours with family, or to relax before or after a climb or safari. The distance from Arusha to the hot springs is 69km and the journey normally takes around 1 hour 20 minutes, so one should allow at least 5- 6 hours for this excursion.6 hours -Admission Ticket IncludedADDITIONAL INFOWheelchair accessibleInfants and small children can ride in a pram or strollerPublic transportation options are available nearbyInfants are required to sit on an adults lapTransportation options are wheelchair accessibleNot recommended for travelers with spinal injuriesNot recommended for pregnant travelersNot recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular healthSuitable for all physical fitness levelsNot wheelchair accessibleThis tour/activity will have a maximum of 5 travelersCANCELLATION POLICYFor a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.(For information purpose only - definite start times will show on voucher, once confirmed) -

Chemka hot springs or maji moto ( Swahili for hot water) is a little oasis located off of a dusty road about two hours from Arusha.
Enjoy the naturally warm water caused by underground geothermal springs. If you are feeling lazy you can bask in the pool or, if youre are feeling more adventurous, you can swim or jump from the rope swing.
After you are done swimming, you can enjoy some local food cooked fresh for you. Our personal favorite is chips mayai, which is basically a French fry omelette. Whats not to love? As you are approaching Moshi keep your eyes open because every so often the clouds part and you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro!

Kikuletwa Hot Spring Day Tour
- Type:Day Trips and Excursions
- Duration:10 Hours
OVERVIEWKikuletwa Hot Springs also known as Rundugai hot water springs or Chemka hot springs are an unexpected paradise hidden in the desert scrub outside the town of Boma Situated about 71 km from Arusha They are an extraordinary phenomenon, rushing up from underground in the middle of parched and dusty landscape. In fact, the water is not hot rather it is a pleasant temperature! This is a good place to visit for a picnic and a swim too. And the views of Kilimanjaro on a clear day are also fabulous. Unfortunately, the water is full of fluoride which means the local people cant use it for drinking. The crystal-clear, turquoise waters surrounded by palm trees and winding roots offer a picturesque spot for a relaxing afternoon swim. The spring is actually rather big and over 6 meters deep in some places although you can see the bottom through the crystal clear waters no matter where you are. You can have as much fun or relaxation as your heart desires and your mind and body needsINCLUDESPrivate transportationAll Fees and TaxesEXCLUDESUse of Snorkelling equipmentUse of SCUBA equipmentMEETING AND PICKUPPickup pointsThe supplier will pick up customers from select hotelsOptions and Start timeKikuletwa Hot Spring Day Tour:12:00 AMWHAT TO EXPECTKikuletwa Hotsprings (Pass by)You will be picked up in your hotel in Arusha/Moshi take a dive to small town called Boma ngombe the take dust road and drive for about 30 minutes through the local villages once approaching the hot spring you will also see some onions farms, arrive at the kikuletwa hot spring have your swimming gears on and start enjoying most of the time here spent on swimming and rest on the mattress have nap then get back swimming till your body says yes its enough then get in the vehicle start the drive back to hotel where the tour ends.ADDITIONAL INFOSuitable for all physical fitness levelsNot wheelchair accessibleThis tour/activity will have a maximum of 15 travelersCANCELLATION POLICYAll sales are final.
