1: Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park covers Mount Meru, a prominent volcano with an elevation of 4566 m, in the Arusha Region of northeastern Tanzania. The park is small but varied with spectacular landscapes in three distinct areas. In the west, the Meru Crater funnels the Jekukumia River; the peak of Mount Meru lies on its rim.
during a game drive, you are likely to spot peaceful herds of buffaloes, shy bushbucks on the edge of the forest as well as warthogs and zebras. Heading towards the Ngurdoto Crater you will soon find yourself in a lush rainforest a great place to spot the athletic black and white colobus monkey as well as the elegant mitis monkey. The Ngurdoto Crater is basically a smaller version of the Ngorongoro Crater and has a diameter of about 3 km. With a bit of luck, you might even spot buffaloes in the swamps on the crater floor.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Lake Chala

Your friendly guide will arrive at your accommodation armed with your tasty packed lunch. Then he or she will bustle you into the transport and drive you to Lake Chala Safari Camp. On the way youll journey through the everyday life of Moshi and on to the freeway, and you can spend a relaxing, comfortable hour-and-a-bit taking in the sights. Lake Chala Safari Camp is a beautiful private game reserve overlooking Lake Chala. Youll arrive there and our guide will take you down to the lakeside, through vividly green flora, with the blue, blue lake ahead of you. It gets quite rocky near the lake so wear sturdy footwear. Its a stunning area perfect for hikers and birdwatchers, and in season you might be lucky enough to spot elephants gathering at a distant waterhole. Spend the day wandering the paths around the lake or across the nearby savannah, where youre likely to see baboons, vervet monkeys and blue monkeys as well as (perhaps) the shy dik-dik and graceful kudu, too. After your hike, spend some time sitting by the lakeside enjoying the stillness, only disturbed by birdsong and the gently lapping waters. If youre feeling a little more active, you can jump into a kayak and explore the lake further. Youll be serenaded by the ever-present birdsong and gentle plashing of the water as you row. After your adventures, stop at the bar for a drink (alcoholic or otherwise) and, if youre a little peckish, an afternoon snack. If you havent opted to camp at the Lake (think campfire under the star-filled heavens), youll be driven back to Moshi in the late afternoon. The pleasant drive will give you some you time to reflect on your day and wonder if it would be rude to go straight to bed when you get back you wont believe how tired youll feel after a day of restorative, stress-relieving peace.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Materuni Waterfalls

After breakfast at your Hotel in Arusha depart for Materuni Village. First you will visit the waterfalls, which are around a 40-minute walk away. Your guide will inform you about the culture of the Chagga, village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so dont forget your swimwear!
After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return with your guide to Materuni village, where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer. Next is coffee experience, here you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances - a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Depart for Arusha or Airport.

1: Kikuletwa Hotsprings

We pick you up from your hotel early in the morning. The road to the Hot Springs is very bumpy and windy, so driving takes more than one hour. During the trip you can enjoy the wonderful scenery and see the authentic Tanzanian life. When we arrive at the Hot Springs you can swim, relax, eat your lunch and enjoy the sun. If you'd like, while you are swimming we can be preparing a barbecue for you. Additionally, if you desire, we can overnight at the Hot Springs with a camp fire and a bush dinner. Ocationally around the springs you can see baboons and different monkeys.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We'll welcome you to the Kingstone Asilia Family Farm in the green, peaceful outskirts of Arusha. Here we will teach you all about the history of coffee, how it came to Tanzania, and guide you through the traditional processing methods that we still use today.

We'll show you some traditional Tanzanian medicinal plants and tell you the fun stories of how they are used. Depending on the season, you'll also get the chance to plant a small coffee plant in our plantation. Finally we'll reach the mature coffee trees and together we will be pick the ripe coffee cherries to fill a basket ready for processing.

You will use our traditional hand-powered pulping machine to remove the pulp from the coffee coffee cherry. We'll take some pre-dried beans and show you how to pound them with a fun song and dance to remove the outer layer. Then roast and grind the beans for a delicious cup of your own processed coffee, complete with a traditional Tanzanian snack.

Our tour concludes with a delicious home-cooked vegetarian lunch, prepared by our own chef with fresh ingredients.

Our coffee village is 40 min from Arusha town, 1400 mas and evergreen. From the village center we will use our feet and walk to the organic coffee farm. On the way you will pass through small farms, schools and churches. Our guide has lots of information about our culture and traditions. At the farm we will see the difference in traditional and organic coffee production. The walk down to our roaster takes 30-40 min. In the garden we serve a hot Tanzanian lunch with specialties from our village. Chapati, roasted banana, rice, ugali, sauce of goat, spinach, salad and fruits of the season. For dessert we will cup different coffee together with our famous banana cake and chocolate covered coffee beans. In the afternoon we move over to the roastary that is in the same garden. At our mama center, we give sewing and cooking classes to empower women and provide them with new skills. Their children go to our daycare where they learn and play. You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel in Arusha/Moshi and taken to the Marangu Gate, 1860m. The drive will take approximately 1 hour. Once the necessary gate registration has been completed, your trek can begin and you will soon be hiking through the dense Kilimanjaro rainforest. Alongside the impressive vegetation, you will have the chance to catch a glimpse of black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and various bird species. Our knowledgeable English-speaking guide will inform you about Kilimanjaro and will explain the different species of plants and animals you will see. You will also meet mountain climbers descending from the top, and perhaps some of them will tell you of their experiences and you can start to dream about a climb of your own! 1: Ngorongoro Crater

Pick up from Arusha town at approximately 7:00am and we depart to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. We will descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater for a 4 hours game drive with picnic lunch. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot.

We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually been seen here. in the afternoon we depart for Arusha where we will end our safari adventure. Expected arrival time to Arusha town will be around 19:00pm.

1: Materuni Waterfalls

The Kikuletwa Hot Springs are certainly one of the most beautiful places in Tanzania - the hot springs are surrounded by fig and palm trees and winding roots - a real hidden paradise. The crystal clear, turquoise waters invite you for a refreshing swim. Although called a hot spring, water in Kikuletwa is not hot, but rather refreshing since the water source is from the Kilimanjaro mountain itself. Most of the visitors arrive around noon, but we arrive early in the morning when it is still quiet. Therefore, with some luck we will spot the blue monkeys in the tree tops, before they later dissapear in the bush.

This is probably the best place to swim. Emanating from within the earth, the geo-thermally warmed water is constantly renewed and is therefore very fresh and clear and clean. Its a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours with family, or to relax before or after a climb or safari. The distance from Arusha to the hot springs is 69km and the journey normally takes around 1 hour 20 minutes, so one should allow at least 5- 6 hours for this excursion.

If youre in the mood for a day trip, a place off the beaten path were tourists and locals mingle, look no farther. Chemka hot springs or maji moto ( Swahili for hot water) is a little oasis located off of a dusty road about two hours from Arusha.
Enjoy the naturally warm water caused by underground geothermal springs. If you are feeling lazy you can bask in the pool or, if youre are feeling more adventurous, you can swim or jump from the rope swing.
After you are done swimming, you can enjoy some local food cooked fresh for you. Our personal favorite is chips mayai, which is basically a French fry omelette. Whats not to love? As you are approaching Moshi keep your eyes open because every so often the clouds part and you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Mt. Kilimanjaro!

OVERVIEW

You certainly cant climb Kilimanjaro in a day, but our day tour to this iconic, snow-capped mountain will give you an excellent taster of why Africas highest peak is so popular. During the course of the day, we will follow the popular Marangu Route and walk as far as the first hut the Mandara where our picnic lunch will be taken. As other trekkers continue upwards, bound for the summit, we will make the descent again and return to Arusha.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Kilimanjaro National Park

After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet your guide, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (about 1 hour/ 2 Hours), register, and commence the climb. Walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rain-forest, look for towering Eucalyptus trees, birdlife, and Colobus monkeys.

After lunch, hike back to the park gate and drive back to Moshi or Arusha.
