Also known as the Arab Fort and by other names is a fortification located in stone town, the capital of Zanzibar. It is the oldest building in stone town. lt is located on the main seafront, adjacent to another landmark building of the city the House of wonders (the former palace of the Sultan) and facing the Fordhani Gardens.

Is a small part in the historical City of stone town, Zanzibar, The gardens are located along the main sea walk of stone town, just in front of the famous buildings the House of wonders and Old fort. For centuries Zanzibar was the fulcrum of political and economic power in East Africa as well as the site of the region most notorious slave. Slave captured on the mainland were brought to Zanzibar in chains to be sold in the city slave market often enduring horrific hardship on their journey. It because the island was so central to the slave trade that it played such as an important role in the abolition of slavery not just in Africa but worldwide. The market was closed on the orders of the Sultan in 1873.

This tour is a combination of three different attractions in Zanzibar and together they allow you to explore them on the same day with aid from our qualified and certified guide.
The tour normally starts at Stone Town where we catch a motorized boat that takes about 25 minutes to Prison Island where we visit Sanctuary of Giant Land Tortoises, Peacocks, Prison Ruins and the beach and then we catch a boat again to take us to Nakupenda for about 35 minutes of ride, at Nakupenda where we spend the most part of the tour and here we normally swim, snorkel, take photos and also enjoy the seafood lunch with beach BBQ prepared by our staff team. 1: Prison Island - Changuu Private Island

Prison Island also known as Changuu Island lies about 25 - 30 minutes by wooden motorized boat from Zanzibar Stone Town and this is where you will visit the Prison Ruins built by General Lloyd Mathews in 1893 and hence the name Prison Island. The Tour includes the visit to the Sanctuary of Aldabra's giant tortoises brought by British Governor of Seychelles in 1919 as a gift to Sultan of Zanzibar. During the tour, you will be able to visit the sanctuary for the land giant tortoises, peacocks and the prison ruins. The Tour will also provide you with the chance to swim in the clear crystal water, sunbathe and snorkel at the nearest coral reef before you find your way back to Nakupenda for another experience.

2: Nakupenda Beach Nature Reserve

This is a Sandbar that is located about 55km from Prison Island and this is where the tour will take travelers right after the visit to Prison Island. here all the travelers will have an opportunity to explore the Sandbar for about 03 hours before returning to stone town.
At Nakupenda travelers will have time to swim, sunbathe, take photos as well as having seafood lunch and beach BBQ accompanied by tropical fruits and non-alcoholic beverages.

The tour is only private in the Taxi but by the time you reach Fumba beach, you actually join the group of travelers in the Local Wooden Dhow to the destinations. The tour will depart from a fishing village of fumba heading to three different destinations all around kwale Island and Menai Bay (Reserved area for snorkeling) where travelers will stay for about an hour at the Sandbar for swimming and sunbathing while enjoying tropical fruits prepared by our staff team and then go for snorkeling at Menai Bay where is a home different kinds of fish and rich coral reefs.

Join a group of travelers on a Local Wooden Dhow to Safari Blue. The first spot we visit while on Safari Blue is a Sand Bank with crystal clear water and we actually stop here for about an hour to enjoy swimming, sunbathing as well as enjoying tropical fruits prepared by our staff team. We also do snorkeling just two meters away from the Sand bank at Menai Reserved Area where is a home of different kinds of fish and plenty of coral reefs. It is also expected to spot some Bottled Nose Dolphins in this area if we are lucky enough.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Discover the secret of Swahili dishes with a mixture of oriental influences and the role of spices that grown in Zanzibar. The tour begins with a visit to the market to buy the ingredients, then, under the guidance of an experienced Zanzibari chef, you will prepare the various dishes. The chef will guide you to use the ingredients and practice the cooking in Zanzibar styles. When the food is ready you will enjoy your dishes together with your chef and discussing your day and the merits of the Swahili foods.

A. The pick-up time may change dependently on your hotel's location: from 30 to 10 minutes before the meeting in our base in Kiwengwa at 9:00. You will be informed accordingly.
B. Please wait for the driver in the hotel's parking lot.
B. Cool Zanzibar base is located by the beach between Kiwengwa Beach Resort on the right and La base kiteschool bar & restaurant on the left if you are coming by foot.
C. If your hotel is in far away distances give us information of your hotel name and location.

WHAT TO EXPECT

During your 3,5/4 hour tour you will have three major stops, where you will be showed around rural life in Zanzibar and where you can take beautiful pictures. You will visit traditional Zanzibari villages and agriculture countryside, where all the fresh fruits and vegetables are produced. We have different trails that we take, sometimes youll pass through the forest, sometimes through baobab alleys, other times you will explore the caves. Beautiful landscape is guaranteed. The last stop is at Pongwe beach where youll be served fresh juice and relax before returning back to the base.
- Quad driver needs to have a valid driving license.
- You can ride on the quad alone or by two - check the option for booking.
- Children above 5 years old are allowed to be passengers.
