This establishment is a traditional Georgian coaching inn nestled within the medieval walls of Conwy a stone’s throw from King Edward I’s imposing medieval fortress, Conwy Castle. Out of the windows visitors get interesting glimpses of the 13th century town walls and castle, the 12th century St. Mary’s church or up the Conwy valley towards the often snow topped Tal y fan. The town is hemmed in by the mountains to one side and the river and estuary to the other, giving Conwy a naturally strategic position, hence its fortification and many battles for its control. Conwy nowadays is quite the ‘hive’ of activity with lots of annual events, the Conwy Feast, the Conwy River Festival, Conwy Pirate Festival the historic Honey and Seed fairs – the dates for which, having been set by Royal charter in the 13th century.
