Both beginners and seasoned pros are drawn to its shores, where numerous schools and rental shops line the vibrant Cabarete Beach. But there's more to Cabarete than soaring over the waves or laying on the sand with a drink in your hand (not that there’s anything wrong with either of those things!). Things to See

Go surfing at Encuentro Beach. Surfing is a perfectr way to spend the day in Cabarete, but you’ll find the best surf and surfing schools just north of Cabarete along a beautiful stretch of palm-lined sand called Encuentro Beach. Here, you can find great conditions for both beginners and experienced surfers.

Do a dive or snorkel in Sosúa Bay or in Cabarete. It’s only 25 minutes away to get to Sosua, the coral reefs and marine life here make an excellent spot for underwater exploration. Sosúa is a nearby town with beautiful beaches, like Playa Alicia and Play Sosua.

Take a long walk on the beach. The curvature of Cabarete Beach and the constant activity along the shoreline make this a great spot for a walk on the beach. Head out early in the morning to avoid the crowds if you’re running or power walking, or enjoy a leisurely evening stroll and watch the colorful kites floating along the horizon. Many also enjoy the scenic beauty of the coastline with a horseback ride on the beach. Several stables offer riding tours, for beginners to experienced riders.

Get out on a paddleboard. If surfing and kiteboarding are a little intense for your taste but you still want to get out on the water, try stand-up paddleboarding! You’ll find plenty of rental options and lessons along the beach in Cabarete, all within easy walking distance of the resorts. You can rent boards or join a guided paddle tour through the mangroves or along the coast.

Try Kitesurfing or Windsurfing, or both! Cabarete is one of the world’s best spots for both, thanks to its steady winds and calm waters. Kite Beach and Cabarete Bay are the two main spots for these activities, with plenty of schools in the area offering lessons for all levels.

Explore El Choco National Park. Inside the forest, you’ll find El Choco National Park, and underground cave system that dates back to the Tainos (the indigenous peoples of the Dominican Republic). This is a great area of diverse landscapes to enjoy a hike, and explore the limestone caves, lagoons, and rich flora and fauna.

Discover the Damajagua Waterfalls. Nestled in the mountains of the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range lies the Dominican Republic’s number one visited attraction. Once you experience the rush of cascading The 27 Waterfalls Damajagua you will know why! Adventurers will love canyoning and waterfall climbing, it’s a perfect place for thrill-seekers looking for an adrenaline rush. Some tour options also include zip lining. Note: “Charcos” translates to pools and there are about 12 waterfalls and 27 pools at the 27 Charcos of Damajagua.

Relax and unwind with a yoga class. Cabarete has a thriving wellness scene with yoga classes, meditation retreats, and spa treatments. Encuentro Yoga and Natura Cabana are popular spots for yoga and holistic treatments.

Enjoy the Beach Bars and Nightlife. The laid-back vibe of Cabarete extends into the night, with beach bars and restaurants offering live music, cocktails, and beachfront dancing. Check out local spots such as Lax Ojo, Mojito Bar, and Vela for a fun and vibrant night out.
