Things to See & Do
Take a Trip to Land’s End. The 750-mile-long Baja California peninsula reaches its southernmost tip at a half-mile headland at Cabo San Lucas. In addition to marking “Land’s End,” this promontory also serves as the symbolic demarcation point between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean; visiting it is one of the top things to do in Los Cabos. You can enjoy spectacular views of Land’s End on nightly sunset cruises, but to get up-close-and-personal with iconic landmarks like El Arco - a spectacular arch-shaped granite monument - Pelican Rock, Neptune’s Finger, The Window to the Pacific, and gorgeous Lover’s and Divorce Beaches, take a water taxi (called a panga locally), rent a boat, or sign up for tandem kayak tours.
Take a Whalewatching Trip (Seasonal). Generally, the best time to spot whales is between December through April. Several tour companies are offering whale-watching adventures. Some tour boat companies also have expert marine biologists serving as guides. When whales are spotted, they drop a marine microphone into the water so you can listen to the animals singing. An estimated five to ten thousand whales migrate here from Arctic feeding grounds to warm weather breeding grounds in coves and inlets around Baja California Sur. Humpbacks and gray whales are the species most commonly seen around Los Cabos, but blue whales, sperm whales, and even orcas are occasionally sighted in local waters.
Explore Cabo San Lucas Marina. The marina area is where all the daytime action happens. Tours depart nonstop, street vendors sell tours, souvenirs, and jewelry all hours of the day, and tourists in sundresses and swim trunks stroll up and down the sidewalks, admiring the yachts and window shopping for the best bar or restaurant to stop into for a bit. Exploring the marina is one of the most popular things to do in Cabo San Lucas.
Discover the San Jose del Cabo area.Soak up the more relaxed, local vibe in San Jose del Cabo. Established in 1730, San Jose del Cabo’s historic center paints an authentic picture of Los Cabos, and it’s well worth a visit. While you’re here, head to one of the neighboring farms just up the road. Not only do these farms provide a welcome respite from the busier parts of Los Cabos, but they also offer delicious tastes of Los Cabos’ farm-to-table approach to cuisine, as these farms supply many of the fresh ingredients for the best resorts and restaurants in the area.
