Things to See & Do

Enjoy a day in Panama City. About a 20-minute drive away, Panama City has a historic district, Casco Antiguo (also known as Casco Viejo). It’s well worth taking a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site to learn about the history behind the centuries-old churches, the beautiful facades of historic residences, and government buildings. Visit the Panama Canal. Learn about the canal’s history and engineering. Tour the Canal and its basin to discover its important economic, cultural, and environmental impact. The Miraflores Visitor Center, located near Panama City, offers viewing decks, an IMAX theater, and exhibits. You can also experience the canal through a boat tour.

Take an island excursion to Taboga Island (“Island of Flowers”). Just a 30-minute ferry ride away. There are several activities to enjoy, such as exploring the town of San Pedro, hiking to viewpoints, relaxing on the beach, and watersports. You can also visit the historic Church of San Pedro, one of the oldest in the Americas, and hike to the top of Cerro de la Cruz for beautiful views.

Explore the Soberania National Park, about a 35-minute drive from Playa Bonita. Immerse yourself in lush flora and fauna through hikes in the rainforest.
