Seminyak is a true melting pot of people and cultures. Backpackers and partygoers flock here to enjoy the happening nightlife scene. There are dozens of beaches decked with beautiful beach bars and famed beach clubs. In the daytime Seminyak is a slice of paradise with endless beaches to visit, and bountiful activities and experiences to be had. It is known as Bali’s hippest beach town when it comes to dining, shopping, and partying. The beaches here are simply spectacular, some with white sand, and some featuring grey sand from the volcano. Many are world-class surfing destinations with some of the best waves in the country, surfers flock here from all over the world to conquer the surf and experience the surfing adventures. Snorkeling and Diving off the shores in the sparkling Indian Ocean is also a huge draw to the area with many dive companies and tours to the offshore islands, vibrant coral reefs, and famous dive sites.
Things to see and do
Go Horseback riding on a secluded beach in Bali. A popular activity for everyone to enjoy. There are trails that line the island’s east, central, and northern areas where scenic tours can be taken, some lasting up to 2 hours. There are stables located near popular beaches including the black sand coasts of Berawa in Canggu. Ride on one of the local breeds of Bali pony or Sumba sandalwood crossbreed. Trek through mangroves and unspoiled wilderness, or enjoy a sunset beach ride which is sure to be the highlight of your trip.
Visit Pura Petitenget Temple, a cultural landmark in Seminyak. A centuries-old temple, that is well worth a visit. The temple comes to life during its festive 210-day anniversaries. Petitenget Beach is just a few steps away from the famed temple.
Seminyak is the perfect place to experience total relaxation with an endless supply of spas to choose from. Bali has developed into one of the top spa destinations in Asia, and Seminyak is the high-end spa capital. Go Surfing! There are many great surfing beaches to check out when visiting Seminyak that are much quieter than other places on the island. There are good surfing beaches for intermediate and beginners such as Petitenget Beach with lefts and rights, and short lengths that are suitable for kids. There are quite a few surfing camps and schools found in the Seminyak area.

Go shopping at the local markets, there are popular flea markets such as the one near Double Six Beach as well as a lively night market. These markets are a great place to pick up authentic knick-knacks and unique souvenirs. The night market is more of a culinary experience, filled with stalls serving up delicious local dishes. Visitors can try nasi goreng, mi goreng, and satay sticks as well as barbecued prawns and fish. The sights and smells of this market are simply mouth-watering.
Take a yoga class, Seminyak has a plethora of yoga studios to choose from. With several serene beaches and scenic outdoor environments, this relaxing activity is one of the top activities to enjoy when visiting this slice of heaven. There are private instructors, independent yoga studios, shalas, and private lessons to choose from. There are also some spectacular yoga retreats in Bali.

There are many locations and beaches to soak up a sunset including Echo Beach, or one of the beachbars at Double Six Beach with a refreshing drink in hand. Shopping
There are some great shopping locations in Seminyak, Bali is a great place to shop and the seaside village has plenty of places to choose from. These shopping options are great for women with local boutiques selling clothing, jewelry, and homeware. Wandering around the main street of Jalan Raya and Jalan Kaya Ayu towards Seminyak Square is overflowing with shopping opportunities. Jalan Raya Seminyak is lined from one end to the other with excellent shops and quaint cafes. It is well worth checking out and spending a day or afternoon shopping for local authentic items.
Seminyak Square is a lovely location brimming with local boutique stores that elevate the Balinese shopping experience. The Seminyak Village is a shopping mall with international brands such as H&M, and local market stalls in the middle of the mall and Spring Spa is located on the roof. There are many unique items to choose from when shopping in Seminyak including clothing, jewelry, art, homeware, cane furniture, rattan bags, and more. There are supermarkets for your grocery needs, and Seminyak Market is a popular shopping spot to pick up all kinds of goods for cheap, especially souvenirs. Taman Sari is another great local market destination in town. There are also some fancy boutiques in town for the more high-end shoppers looking for chic items to buy.
Beaches
Seminyak is a spectacular tropical beach resort destination and home to plenty of beautiful beaches the most popular being Seminyak Beach. This beach where the town gets its name is a wonderful beach to spend time with the family with soft white sands and sparkling blue waters. The shoreline is filled with luxury resorts, beachfront dining, and shopping opportunities.
In addition to Seminyak visits can check out Petitenget Beach which is named after the ancient temple found nearby, a nice quiet, secluded beach located in a tranquil neighborhood. This beach features grey sand which gives it a mysterious look, it is a great destination for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and sunsets.
Echo Beach is one of the most popular beaches mainly due to its reef breaks making it a dream destination for surfers. Its name is taken from the spectacular beach club there. There is a wide array of delicious dining options including seafood restaurants and cafes set on a high vantage point providing spectacular views of the beach, ocean, and a great spot for sunset.
Berawa Beach is located in Canggu, around 3 miles away from the center of Seminyak. A nice clean beach with light brown sands, and home to the largest lagoon along the Canggu coast. This beach can get quite windy due to its location which also makes it a great surfing spot.
There are some great beachfront restaurants, bars, and shops to explore. Double Six Beach is another popular surfing beach with plenty of beachside establishments to choose from. Legian Beach runs into Seminyak Beach, a busy and popular place for all things watersports. Sunsets here are spectacular. Kayu Aya Beach is a peaceful stretch of sand and a great place to swim.
Dining
There's a great variety of restaurants and food to choose from when visiting Seminyak. If you walk along the beachfront you will find an endless array of restaurants, cafes, bars, and pubs to choose from for a refreshing drink and some delicious eats. Being a coastal village the menus in Seminyak are packed full of fresh fish and seafood, as well as plenty of other options to suit each diner's taste. Alot of international chefs have settled in Bali and opened up restaurants, many of which are found right in the heart of Seminyak. Jalan Laksmana or “Eat Street” is the beating heart of Seminyak’s food scene, with a concentration of great restaurants where delicious food can be found at lower prices than elsewhere. Warungs are dotted all around town, these are family-owned restaurants and eateries serving up delicious local cuisine. Jalan Dhyana Pura also known as Jalan Camplung Tanduk is a bustling street in town lined with an eclectic mixture of bars and restaurants.
The restaurants, pubs, and cafes in Seminyak cater to local and international crowds, therefore offering a high standard of food. There are many organic, vegetarian, and vegan options available in the local cafes and restaurants. There are upscale restaurants serving fine dining delicacies, the beach town is a hub for a fantastic assortment of global eateries. The cuisine options in Seminyak restaurants are plentiful in town with everything from Balinese, Thai, Western, Chinese, Italian, Indian, and more to choose from. Seminyak has developed a world-class dining scene with high-quality restaurants and menus to suit the most discerning palate.
There are some fun options when it comes to food in Seminyak, foodies can take cooking classes and go on food tours. Taking a Balinese cooking class is a fun way to learn the local culinary traditions in Seminyak. They are offered around town and at some of the resorts with restaurants on site. The Amala holds classes at the resort’s Bamboo Restaurant, conducted by the resident Balinese chef who shares their passion for the island’s heritage cuisine. A typical cooking class in town will involve getting up early to visit the local market and purchase the local ingredients with your chef. You can learn to make satay, nasi goreng, gado gado, and more.
