1: Bosque de Arrayanes

A unique species
Located within the Los Arrayanes National Park, it is the only one that remains in the world, since a few years ago the one that was in Japan disappeared. Today it became a protected area due to the importance of its species and the variety of native life.
The scientific name of the Arrayán is Myrceugenella apiculata. These native trees, along with those on Victoria Island, are estimated to be around 300 years old. The myrtle is very tall, reaching about 18 meters and some specimens reach up to 25 meters.
Its trunk reaches about 50 cm. in diameter and is extremely twisted. The bark, cinnamon colored covered with irregular white spots, is always cold although soft to the touch, it comes off in plates. The flowers are small and white, similar to orange blossom and its purple fruits with which the indigenous people made chicha and dulce. In popular medicine, an infusion is prepared with the leaves to soothe muscle aches and intestinal ailments

WHAT TO EXPECT

Begin your day's adventure with pickup at your hotel in Bariloche. From there, transfer to Puerto Puerto Pañuelo, located just 15 miles (25km) outside of town.

Step aboard a boat and sail out into Lake Nahuel Huapi; be sure to have your camera handy for views of Nahuel Huapi National Park's landscape. After 30 minutes of travel on the water, go ashore in Puerto Anchorena on Victoria Island.

Choose to hike with the guide or on your own in Arrayanes Forest. Walk to Patagua Lagoon to see the pebble beaches, head for the Balcony on Cerro Bella Vista, explore the former National Nursery Trail or discover the ancient Cave Paintings.

Visit a picturesque rustic cottage deep in the Arrayanes Forest, said to have inspired Walt Disney as he created the setting for the movie Bambi. Enter the cottage for a tea and snack or to purchase handicrafts and souvenirs. At the end of the trail you will find a Visitor Center where you can visit with the national park rangers.

San Carlos de Bariloche (commonly called Bariloche) is a city in the Patagonia region of Argentina. It borders Nahuel Huapi, a large glacial lake surrounded by mountains in the Andes. Bariloche is known for its Swiss alpine-style architecture and its chocolate, which is sold in shops on Miter Street, the main avenue. It is also a popular base for hiking and skiing in the nearby mountains, and for exploring the surroundings of the Lake District.

At 9 AM you will be pick up from your hotel in Bariloche downtown and start the trip to the beginning of the trail in Colonia Suiza.
This is a trekking with wonderful panoramic views of the Lake Moreno and the mountain range around Bariloche and takes 8 hours, you should be prepared for that. In this trekking you will ascend continuously through a beech tree forest up to a lookout of the landscape where you will have time to eat your lunch (which is included) while enjoying the views.

Upon arrival at the port, board your waiting vessel and set sail on Nahuel Huapi Lake toward Puerto Blest, located about an hour away. Learn about the surrounding forest and its abundant bird life from your guide as you enjoy the alpine scenery.

Board a bus at Puerto Blest for the trip along the Frías River to Puerto Alegre. Our most popular trips from Bariloche take us to Limay River, Manso river or Pichi Leufu river in the heart of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. These trips are an excellent way to experience Patagonia wilderness. The driving distance is about 45min.

The usual itinerary is that we pick-up our guests from their hotel round 8.30am, our boats are launched followed by intense fishing until noon. Pending on location, the brake during the midday may vary, but if the bite is hot we of course fish as hard as the guest requires. A full lunch, beverages and some excellent Argentine Malbec wines is done on shady spot along the shore. Our trips vary from 8 to10 hours of fishing time, including transportation. This private adventure day trip begins with a complementary 4x4 drive into the mountains in search of the snow. Here, a guide will gear you up and provide some details regarding hiking techniques. Our commitment is to find you the best accessible conditions, for a fun and safe experience.

The trek will take you through old growth native forests up the mountain exploring trails in complete solitude. Keep your eyes open for some Magellanic Woodpeckers and Austral Parakeets or other native birds. You will trek for 2-3 hours till you reach a beautiful view point. The guides will shovel snow and create a comfy siting area for your lunch. They will melt some snow to provide you with a hot soup and a setting pad for relaxing. Time to restore your energy with two delicious home-made sandwiches and brownie. WHAT TO EXPECT

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Bariloche and you will head towards the Limay River. This is the most important river in the National Park, big water flowing out of the huge Nahuel Huapi from its eastern end about 17 km (11 miles) from the city, winding through dry, rocky mesas spotted with pine forests and offering wonderful scenery and great weather. Populated with mostly rainbow and brown trout, and some Patagonian perch, it offers countless opportunities for fishermen.
From November through March the dry fly possibilities abound, and during April, the amazing big trout migrate to the river from the lake. There are five different sections on the river to choose from, each about 10 miles long. The extremely clear water, beautiful scenery, and great fishing make this floating trip something truly unforgettable.
Always accompanied by your guide, you will also learn the history of the Bariloche's region and the best fishing options as well as the local fauna.
After spending the morning or afternoon drifting and fishing, you will join shore, where our assistants will be waiting for you in order for you to take you back to your hotel.
