Beaches And Cayes Of Belize

With fragrant sea breezes, soul-warming sun and clear azure waters, The Country is a dream come true for beach connoisseurs. Belize has been blessed with 240 miles of stunning coastline and more than 450 islands which they call “Cayes,” where more pristine stretches of beach await. Only about 10 percent of the islands are inhabited, however, which means as long as you have boat transport, there are many hidden gems and deserted islands to be discovered. And while some places like Ambergris Caye, which is Belize’s largest island, and Placencia, on the mainland, are popular as a beach vacation destination, much of Belize’s coastline is still undiscovered by your average tourist.

  • Belize Barrier Reef

If scuba, snorkeling, or fishing are your passions, a trip to Belize isn't just another vacation, it's a pilgrimage to the longest and most extensive living coral reef in the western hemisphere, the Belize Barrier Reef. For a close encounter, we suggest to book Hotel Stays in Ambergris Caye, Turneffe Islands or Cayo Espanto. Although located at a relatively longer distance, day trips to visit the Belize Barrier Reef are also available from Placencia Beach, Hopkins Beach or Punta Gorda Hotels.

  • Mayan Ruins of Belize

Belize’s first and most lasting inhabitants, the Maya, left a rich legacy of art, science and mathematics that continues to unfold and astound us. Much of this ancient knowledge was lost when Spanish conquistadors laid waste to the extensive Maya libraries and administrative centers, but, fortunately, the Maya recorded parts of their history and predictions in stone inscriptions that can be seen today in stelae and the remains of elaborate cities, buildings and temples that survived centuries of jungle encroachment.

  • Caves and Falls of Belize

Belize is home to one of the most extensive and stunning networks of caves in the world, as well as a number of gorgeous waterfalls. The country is blessed with some of the tallest and most majestic waterfalls, as well as the highest concentration of caves in all of Central America.
