After you meet the guides, there is a short journey by road into the rainforest covered mountains near Paraty. The wild food walk takes place on forest trails in the Altantic Forest. We use a number of different trails to minimise our impact on the environment but on each route, in addition to walking on forest trails, you will also see the agro-forestry system of farming in action and visit waterfalls and swimming holes.
After a short talk on safety and responsible foraging Jorge will take you into the forest, identifying and collecting amazing and tasty fruits and flowers, leaves and mushrooms as you go. Jorge will help you identify edible plants and there will be plenty of wide ranging conversation from nutrition, medicine and herbalism to botany, cookery, horticulture and history. At the end of the walk there is a chance to have a refreshing swim in the freshwater swimming holes in the forest. As the schooner sails among the 1,000 islands in the bay, the captain will pick 4 snorkel spots; the route and choice of snorkeling locations changes every day. The boat will always stop at Ilha Comprida, known by the locals as 'nature's aquarium'. Put on the provided mask, snorkel and flippers and jump in. Swim among large groups of tropical fish who are used to human interaction and will swim right up to snorkelers. The high-visibility conditions here make for fantastic underwater photo ops.

There are four stops in heavenly places. At each stop, you have the option to dive in warm, crystal clear waters with mask and snorkel (provided). First stop is Ilha Comprida. Known as natures fish aquarium, when our guides drop just a grain of rice from the boat, entire schools of fish come out, surrounding the boat and snorkelers. Time after time, visitors tell us this is the funnest part of their entire vacation!
The second stop is made at Lula's Beach, very beautiful and with crystal clear water. The third stop is held at the Blue Lagoon, which is carried out lunch inside the schooner. But yes, you will also make a swim in the beautiful blue waters at this stop.
