WHAT TO EXPECT

Get a different perspective of the incredible scenery of Banff, during this horseback riding excursion along the Bow River or Spray River. This riding experience provides visitors with a first-hand taste of the wild landscape around Banff, much as the early settlers would have seen it, while mounted on horseback.

If you choose to cover the Bow River area, head to the natural sulfur hot springs. Follow the trail, which loops around a marsh near the Bow River. As you ride, catch views of Mt. Norquay and the Cascade Mountain in the distance.

While the Spray River, you can trot past untouched wilderness through the golf course and past Boat Falls.

The 1 hour Bow River Ride takes you along the tranquil Bow River in Banff. Ride past the historical Cave and Basin site and take in the the beautiful surrounding mountain views.

Youll explore stunning sections of wilderness on this two-hour trip, providing a chance to spot wildlife that you might not get to see while on foot. Plus, our friendly, experienced guides will teach you a few cowboy tricks along the way.

Pass by natural sulphur hot springs as you make your way to one of Banffs national historic sites: the Cave and Basin. Trek along the tranquil Bow River and take in magnificent views of the Bow Valley before pressing through thick marshes as you climb Sulphur Mountain.

See Banff National Park from a different perspective 6 or 7 feet up from the back of a friendly horse. Meet your guide, get outfitted with your horse, and receive a safety briefing. Then head out through the park on horseback on a 4-hour guided tour.

The 4-hour Sulphur Mountain Ride is packed with Rocky Mountain scenery. See the renowned Rimrock Resort Hotel, trek down to the valley and lead your horse across the lively Spray River. Youll ride along the base of Mount Rundle and stop for a short break and small snack before continuing on to enjoy stunning views across the valley and of the Rimrock Hotel - before passing by the immaculate fairways of the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course. If you are traveling to the mountains without a vehicle we can provide pickup from Canmore. Please contact our office and we can arrange pick up from Blondies Cafe in Canmore or the Legacy Trail bus stop for the Banff/Canmore roam transit line 3 which provides public bus transport from Banff to Canmore approximately every 30 min

Getting to the Meeting Location from Banff, if I dont have a vehicle:
Banff has an excellent public bus service (not slower than driving yourself) and the public roam transit line 3: will take you directly from Banff (town centre) to the legacy trail bus stop in Canmore (first stop in Canmore) where you can arrange for us to come pick you up, usually 20min prior to your trip start time.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After meeting your guides and other participants of the group (either at the staging area in the Heart Creek Trail parking lot or after being picked up from your hotel), it is an approximate 1.5 hour drive by van to the starting location of the canyon a 30-45 min hike will bring you to the top of the canyon adventure. Everyone suits up, and in order to ensure safety your guides will go thru a mandatory rappel and rope safety clinic with all participants. There are a total of 4 rappels, interspersed with some scrambling, hiking, as well as several slides and easy but fun pool jumps. The entire canyon takes approximately 3 - 4 hours to descend.

Head to the Banff Gondola any time during its normal hours of operation to begin your ride. Climb inside a comfortable, modern, 4-person gondola cabin for the trip to the top of Sulphur Mountain. 1: Banff National Park

On this tour, your Radventures guide will determine the best times to visit each of the following locations, in no particular order, based on weather conditions, big bus tour schedules & a few other factors that we as locals consider to ensure that you, as our guests, are getting the best and most authentic experience on the day.

Adventuring outside deep in the heart of Banff National Park is a phenomenal experience in any season!

That being said, this is a part of the world where weather can change in an instant and temperatures stay well below freezing for most of the winter. Please layer up and dress for being outside in freezing temperatures! Please also ensure you have warm, waterproof footwear on.

1 hour -Admission Ticket Free

2: Lake Louise

Lace up your ice-skates & strap on your snowshoes on the world famous Lake Louise and glide across the ice & snow as you marvel in the incredible scenery around you.

With 2 hours here you will have lots of time to ice skate on the lake, explore the lakeside trails on snowshoe or foot, be amazed by the lakefront ice sculptures and check out the incredible hotel interior & shops. There is something to do here for every guest no matter your desired activity level!

Upon arrival, your guide will show you all the important landmarks and provide all the information you'll need to explore the lake at your own pace before demonstrating how to use the snowshoes & ice skates (small extra cost, please contact Radventures BEFORE booking).

Once everyone is settled into their Lake Louise adventures, your guide will remain with the tour van to allow for guests to come and go as they please to pick-up/drop-off gear and to have access to a warm spot to relax as well as their belongings.

3: Lake Louise

Around 12pm - 1pm, we will make a short stop for lunch at Samson Mall in Lake Louise Village.

Guests will be able to choose to buy lunch at the local cafe or bakery, or purchase a bagged lunch from Bare Bistro in advance (extra cost, please contact Radventures before booking). Guests are also welcome to BYO.

4: Johnston Canyon

Experience the incredible beauty of Banff National Park's epic frozen winter wonderland at Johnston Canyon!

Upon arrival, your guide will equip you with crampons/ice-cleats & hiking poles and deliver amazing stories & fun facts as you explore the mellow trail together to the Lower Falls (approx 30 mins/1.2km/0.75 miles/50m elevation gain one way).

Once at the Lower Falls, guests will have the option to return to the warm comfort of the tour van or to continue to the Upper Falls (an additional 30 mins/1.3km/0.8 miles/70m elevation gain) to be amazed by the biggest & most awe-inspiring frozen waterfalls in the canyon and encourage the daredevil ice climbers scaling their way up the frozen canyon walls.

The return trip from the trailhead to the Upper Falls is 2 hours/5.0km/3.1 miles/120m elevation gain in total and is suitable for those with moderate fitness levels.

Physical activity on this tour is encouraged but not mandatory & guests may choose to relax instead of hike.

5: Bow Valley Parkway

Soak in the incredible views of towering mountains, huge glaciers & alpine forest whilst keeping an eye out for wildlife as we travel along the awe-inspiring backroads of Banff National Park between Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon & Banff.

On Radventures full day epic guided adventures, our expert local guides like to throw in a surprise or two along the way to really make our guests day!

Enjoy a small group guided hike along your choice of 4 iconic trails in the Canadian Rockies. Experience the raw beauty of turquoise lakes, soaring mountain peaks, waterfalls, and glaciers as you admire the incredible scenery.

Stanley Glacier (Sunday & Thursday)

This moderate trail in Kootenay National Park follows the forest trail between sheer towering walls of Mount Stanley and Storm Mountain and then enjoy views of Stanley Glacier.

Larch Valley (Monday & Saturday)

Beginning from the Valley of the Ten Peaks at Moraine Lake, this moderate trail climbs up 10 switchbacks to Larch Valley. Amble through a larch forest and and then enjoy views of Sentinal Pass, Minestimma Lakes and Mt Temple.

Consolation Lakes (Tuesday)

This easy trail begins in the Valley of the Ten Peaks where you'll leisurely hike to Consolation Lakes, and upon your return explore around Moraine Lake, including a trip to the top of the Rockpile.

The Plain of Six Glaciers (Wednesday & Friday)

This moderate hike starts at Lake Louise and ascends up an ancient glacial valley to the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse where you will be treated to views of the six glaciers feeding into the valley and Lake Louise.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After pickup from your Banff hotel in the afternoon, travel with your guide to famous Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, both part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of their natural beauty. You have time at each lake to admire their turquoise colors, wander the shoreline and take photos.

Soak up the beauty of Lake Louise, referred to as the Jewel of the Canadian Rockies. Hear about local mountaineering history, including a tragic accident that shaped Canadian mountain culture.

Continue to a viewpoint in the Valley of Ten Peaks overlooking Moraine Lake, and capture photos of Banffs incredible natural beauty.

During your tour, you also see the Bow Valley Parkway, Castle Mountain and Chateau Lake Louise.

Please note: Early season road closures limit access to Moraine Lake until late May. Inquire at the time of booking to learn the alternate stops and locations being used.

Spend around half an hour at Lake Louise, and take a stroll on the lake shore and see the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
