WHAT TO EXPECT

In one day we will dive in 2 different cenotes - Chak Mool and Kukulkan. In the morning we pick you up from your hotel and drive to the cenotes. They are located right next to each other. We do the 1st dive in Chak Mool. After dive we will have lunch - fruit and sandwiches, get warm, and go for the 2nd dive in cenote Kukulkan. Only for certified divers.

We do not do pick ups beyond the Mayakoba area going north and beyond the Chemuyil area going south. We do not do pick ups in Cancun, nor Tulum. You may meet us in Playa del Carmen and we can pick you up there.

WHAT TO EXPECT
You do not need to be a very experienced diver, our professional staff of cave divers will safely guide you into this mystical world. This cavern system is not a 100% overhead environment so during the dives in the cenotes you will always see light and find multiple big open exits.

You do not have to be a very experienced diver, however you need to be Open Water diver certified or equivalent to do this activity.

The tour includes transportation from/to your hotel, two-tank dive, equipment, flash light, entrance fee to the cenote property, lunch box and beverages.

The birding guide will meet you ay Walmart 30th avenue parking area, and you will be transferred to Ruta de los Cenotes near Puerto Morelos.

Meeting point time is 6:00 AM, from here the guide will start the tour, taking you into the trails in the surrounding of the meeting point, where many endemic and migratory bird species will be spotted.

2 hours after there will be time for a short rest of 10 to 15 minutes for take some snacks and beverages, load some energy, to keep walking more trails deep into the jungle among some cenotes where endemic birds to fill your bird list.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Akumal Bay

Akumal Bay is the only place where to be sure to swim with sea turtles, protected by a natural reef and free to swim in the bay while eating the grass and reproducing themself.

We use the facilities of the main diving centre in the area, with lockers, bathrooms and showers, plus the service of an expert local guide, that will show you the turtles.

We take you first to the reef, using a speed boat, starting to swim there and see different corals and local fishes, stingrays, starfishes, etc; later on, we watch the turtles, in their natural environment, making sure we use the life jackets and staying in horizontal position, not touching them, but eventually taking pictures or videos, from the water surface.

It's really important to understand we are not in a pool with turtles, but they are free in the ocean, so the average number of turtles we see is two or three, possibly of different sizes, from big ones to small little babies.

Please the use of sunscreen is not allowed; thank you.

2: Blue Cenote

The cenotes we visit are (fortunately!) not listed on the map, because we enter a private community, having chances to explore the place on our own, walking from one cenote to the other, and most of the time staying alone there, in real contact with Mother Nature.

Our target is avoiding the big crowds (typical of the other places), giving chances to our guests to be in a quiet and calm area, where swimming in different cenotes, with crystal blue waters, and just listening to birds, while admiring those amazing caves and trees.

Life jackets and goggles are included too.

Water temperature could be fresh during the winter, so we suggest bringing perhaps a rashguard, if you feel so.

Use of Gopro or personal cell phones is allowed, to take pictures and videos, to remember such a unique experience!

All cenotes are nice, but to experience them alone in the jungle, is a different feeling and that's what makes our activity so special.

Water shoes could be more comfortable for you.

At Tulum Adventures, we understand that getting to the sanctuary can sometimes be a challenge, so we offer optional round-trip transfer services to make your visit as smooth as possible. To arrange a transfer, guests just need to provide their hotel or accommodation name and address well take care of the rest!

Just to clarify for future visitors: the transfer fee is not included in the tour price and can be paid upon arrival at the sanctuary. The cost is $15 USD per person from Tulum up to Puerto Morelos. This includes transportation with licensed drivers and full support from our coordination team.

We offer two rides daily every day except for Sunday, at 9:30am and 2:00pm. Our rides last about 1.5 hours. Guests need to arrive 20 minutes prior to their scheduled ride and sign a waiver before riding. Helmets and mosquito repellent are provided. Horses are assigned based on each participant's personality, age, height, weight (weight limit is 200lbs/90kgs; BMI limit 30), and level of experience, and a briefing will be given to the riders. We ride through a mix of narrow jungle trails and some wider trails and often make a stop midway to show some interesting things (there are not two identical rides as we pay close attention to everybody's personal areas of interest, etc.). Very experienced riders will be able to do some trotting and cantering, conditions permitting. When we return to the ranch, our guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary beverages (a nice glass of chilled wine, an ice-cold beer, or non-alcoholic beverages), and light snacks, if they participate in our afternoon ride. Meeting time 14.15 We are located on the 4th street between the 5th avenue and the beach. From the 5th Avenue you will have to walk down towards the beach on the 4th street (Calle 4 Norte). You will find our dive center Scuba Libre on the left side of the street just few steps before the beach.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Playa del Carmen is one of the few places in the world where you can dive with the Bull sharks. The best time to see the Carcharhinus leucas (bull sharks) is from November to March, when a number of pregnant females appears around Playa del Carmen before heading off to secret birthing spot to give birth.
The meeting time is at 14.15. Once carried out the paperworks and checked the diving equipment, a detailed briefing of safety and logistic procedures precede the dive.
We'll board few steps from the shop and 5 minutes later we'll be on the site. A quick descent on a 24 mt (72 ft) sandy bottom where all the divers will line up in front of the feeder. There is a line which divers can hold on to if they wish. Once the feeder is in position it usually only takes few minutes before the sharks show up.
A square profile for a 35 minutes dive in which you'll be able to observe the beauty of these animals while they swim around you: it might surprise you to know that bull sharks are actually quite shy.
Diving with Bull sharks in Playa del Carmen means actively participating in the project SAVING OUR SHARKS, which also takes care of its protection by avoiding fishing.
