On the way to Sillustani, we stop at Puma Uta, a hilltop viewpoint just north of Puno. From up here, the city spreads out below and Lake Titicaca stretches toward the horizon on clear days, you can even spot the distant islands. It's a great moment to take it all in, feel the highland breeze, and grab some wide-angle photos before heading deeper into the altiplano. Very early in the morning, we will pick you up from the hotel, and we will go to the south side of Puno, until reach the peninsula of Chucuito. Located 11 miles from the city and with an altitude of 3,871 m.a.s.l., this district has main attractions such as temples, squares and viewpoints with stunning views to the Lake Titicaca.

Once we get to the port you can get on the boat and enjoy a short trip to get to the islands and when we get there you'll love it! You will visit 2 floating islands!! It's fun to jump in the Totora and the guide will tell you how these islands were built.

At the end of the visit in Uros Island, we will return to the boat to go to the island of Taquile. During the trip you can try different poses for your photos and without realizing we will have arrived in Taquile. We will take you up to the plaza of the island and there we will visit the 'Textileria' that is considered Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO!

It is approximately 1 in the afternoon we will have lunch. After knowing the history of the island of Taquile, you will have a delicious quinoa soup and as a main dish you will have, directly from the lake to your dish, a fried 'Trucha' fish accompanied by french fries and rice. If you are vegetarian then you can ask for omelette which also comes with fries and rice. To drink you will have 'Muña mate'. WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Uros Floating Islands

Your epic tour begins with a transfer to the boat pier where you will embark on a 25 minutes boat ride to see the life on the floating islands of Uros. As you begin sailing away, you will get a pristine view of the snow capped Andean peaks at a distance.

As we will reach to the shores of Uros islands, locals will extend a warm welcome and will introduce you to their life on this man made island. People here speak Aymara, our tour guide will teach you a few words so you can greet them in their language.

The head of the community will demonstrate on how they build these islands and will share the history of it.

If desired, you can buy some souvenirs here.

The locals will then offer a short ride on their totora reed boat to the main island of Uros (this has an additional cost of 10 Soles).

You will have some free time to stroll around, the island is also made of totora reed. Once you have had your fill of the history and views, we will embark on a 2 hours journey to Taquile.

2: Taquile Island

As the boat would near the shores of Taquile Island, our local expert will be giving you a brief information of the life of locals here. It is almost a 45 minutes walk up the hill to the summit from where you will get to contemplate the views.

Taquile is home to the best Andean handicrafts. Men here do the knitting while women spin the wool. People here dress based on their marital status. Our guide will be explaining this to you in detail.

A village chief will give you a demonstration on how they dye the wool using vegetables.

After a brief introduction, we will be stopping for lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, we will be hiking back down to the pier and embark on our boat for a return trip to Puno. The distance of 36 kilometres (22 miles) will be covered roughly in two and a half hours. We will be reaching Puno by 0500 PM.

Our representative will meet you and will transfer you back to your hotel within the centre of the city.

Around 06:45am pickup from your accommodation in Puno from where we take you to the local harbor where we board a small motorboat.
First, we visit The Uros Floating Islands, a small community that lives on these reed Islands for decades. The Uros people built floating platforms, made reed houses and canoes, creating their little world.
After we continue our journey towards Taquile Island, located at the heart of the Lake Titicaca.
Once at the harbor of Taquile, we will walk up along a narrow path to the center of the island.
Along the way, we will enjoy stunning landscapes, including the Bolivian mountain range.
As soon as we get to the top, our local guide will explain about traditional life on Taquile.

Después de una breve parada se visitará Aramu Muro Conocido también como Wilca Uta, o puerta del diablo dicho lugar está ubicado a 75 km un viaje de 40 minutos desde las chullpas de Molloco, sobre la carretera que conecta con Bolivia. Aramu muro es una roca donde esta tallada una puerta en bajo relieve, donde se puede encontrar muchas leyendas una de ellas dice que Aramu muro (dios en la época pre inca) habría desaparecido en esta puerta tallada en la piedra (Jayu Marka = ciudad de los espíritus) llevándose un disco solar de los Lemurias para no ser robado por los conquistadores. WHAT TO EXPECT

The tour begins early at 6:45 AM approx. From there, we'll board the kayak accompanied by a motor boat and paddle for approximately an hour, taking in views of Lake Titicaca, its diverse flora and fauna, and a small rock island along the route.

Once we reach the floating islands of Uros, the families who live there will explain how the islands are built and maintained using totora reeds, and what daily life looks like. Then, we'll switch to a fast boat (1 .5h) to reach Taquile Island.

On Taquile, you'll climb roughly 40 minutes from the dock to reach the main plazathe island sits higher than Uros, with terraced hillsides and stone pathways. The people here have been weaving textiles for generations, and you'll see them working throughout the day with natural dyes and traditional patterns. The men knit the chullo hats while women handle the weaving; the colors and designs actually indicate marital status and which community someone belongs to.
You'll have time to walk, visit a small museum that explains the island's textile traditions, and look out from viewpoints that show how the island drops away into the lake.

We'll return to Puno, arriving around 4 PM.

Uros is a group of islands whose buildings are made entirely of tortora reeds. It is home to a small community that dates back to pre-Inca times. One of the cultures, considered as the pre-solar culture or survivors of a previous or primordial humanity
The origin of the Uros dates back to Pre-INCA times, where they were the oldest population of the Collao plateau and would have settled in this territory around the year 1200 BC.
Today their descendants are the mixture of cultures: Uro & Aymara, they preserve many of their ancestral customs. They live on floating islands, made up of 4 to 7 families. There are more than 140 floating islands, they are located within the Titicaca National Reserve.
On this tour we will learn much more about their coexistence and way of life.
One of their deities called, MAMA QOTA, (mother of the lake).

It is worth noting that Taquile Island was declared a masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO, thanks to the extraordinary work of its inhabitants in textile art, where they express their experience, their customs and their culture, and they also maintain their Inca customs: the principles of Ama Sua (Do not be a thief), Ama Llulla (Do not be a liar) and Ama Quella (Do not be lazy), from children to grandparents, they make these fine fabrics that resemble the textiles of the Paracas and Incas.
Taquile Island was part of the Inca Empire, and some archaeological remains can be seen. This island was one of the last Inca sites that capitulated to the Spanish in the 16th century.
Later it was taken in the name of Emperor Charles V and finally passed to the court of Pedro Gonzales de Taquila, from whose surname its name is derived. The Spanish banned traditional Inca clothing, for which they wear a peculiar outfit.

Most Lake Titicaca tours follow the same route to the main Uros islands. This one doesn't. You'll visit Uros Titino a quieter, less-visited group of floating islands near the Capachica Peninsula where just a few families still fish, harvest totora reeds, and maintain their way of life without the crowds that pack the traditional Uros sector.

From there, you'll continue by private boat to Llachón, a rural Quechua community on the peninsula. Local families welcome you in traditional clothing, share their knowledge of native plants, and demonstrate ancient textile techniques they still use to make their own garments. Your bilingual guide will walk you through how the islands are built and maintained using totora reeds, and you'll have a chance to interact directly with the families who live here. There's also an optional ride on a traditional totora reed boat (20 soles per person, not included).
