1: Las Islas Ballestas

Depart from the boat dock in Paracas at 8:00 am for your visit to the Ballestas Islands archipelago. As you cruise west from the tiny beach town of Paracas, you won't be able to miss the Candelabra geoglyph, a 150m high and 50m wide figure of a candlestick etched into the mountain, rumored to have been an ancient guide for sailors or a connection to the Nazca lines. A short description and time for photos is given before cruising on to the famous Ballestas Islands.

Ballestas islands is an excellent opportunity to see large families of over 100 sea lions sleeping on the shores, basking in the sun on the rocks or some barking loudly in efforts to protect their territory. Spot cormorants, the Peruvian booby and Peruvian pelican as well as other impressive varieties of sea bird species and Humboldt penguins nesting together in small groups. Feeling lucky? Watch the waters for dolphins.

Apart from the abundant marine and bird life found here, the Ballestas Islands are also very well known for the guano (seabird droppings) deposited on the island over thousands of years which creates a natural reserve of nitrogen-rich fertilizer over 50 meters deep in some areas. The guano came to be Peru's #1 export in the mid-19th century however today the extraction of guano has been regulated to every 10 years.

The return trip to Paracas is a quick, very windy, direct boat ride to the dock. Upon arrival at 10:00 am, your first tour comes to an end. You should have some time to take photos of the friendly pelicans that hang out on the shoreline beside the dock. Then make your way to the same departure point for your next tour.

At 11:00 am depart to the Paracas National Reserve for a guided tour through this pristine and unique natural reserve located south of the town of Pisco. Visit the Mirador de Flamencos and see flamingos eating at the shore, continue your adventure towards the Centro de Interpretacion to learn about all the fauna in the reserve. In this Centre you can see skeletons of whales, sea lions, and penguins. To finish your tour go off road in the desert towards beautiful Lagunillas Beach, where you can enjoy lunch with a view (not included). At Lagunillas, those who want to go for a swim are welcome to! Return to Paracas.

Las Islas Ballestas (Pass by)

The tour starts at our office in Paracas, then we walk to the Marina Turistica where you will board our speedboat to begin our adventure to the stunning Ballestas Islands (group service).

On the way youll stop at the Paracas Peninsula to see the enigmatic figure of the Candelabra, stunning design drawn on the side of a hill in the Peninsula. Nobody knows for sure who did it or why. There are many hypotheses regarding its origin, some believe it is related to the Nazca Lines but still found no proof or evidence that can define its creation. Afterward you will head off to Ballestas Island where you will enjoy a stunning worlds filled with birds and sea lions. You will navigate around the islands at a distance allowed and probably some caves but this will be depending on the condition of the sea. The tour will finish at the pier.

1: Las Islas Ballestas

As you cruise west from the tiny beach town of Paracas, you won't be able to miss the Candelabra geoglyph, a 150m high and 50m wide figure of a candlestick etched into the mountain, rumored to have been an ancient guide for sailors or a connection to the Nazca lines. A short description and time for photos is given before cruising on to the famous Ballestas Islands.

Ballestas islands is an excellent opportunity to see large families of over 100 sea lions sleeping on the shores, basking in the sun on the rocks or some barking loudly in efforts to protect their territory. Spot cormorants, the Peruvian booby and Peruvian pelican as well as other impressive varieties of sea bird species and Humboldt penguins nesting together in small groups. Feeling lucky? Watch the waters for dolphins.

Apart from the abundant marine and bird life found here, the Ballestas Islands are also very well known for the guano (seabird droppings) deposited on the island over thousands of years which creates a natural reserve of nitrogen-rich fertilizer over 50 meters deep in some areas. The guano came to be Peru's #1 export in the mid-19th century however today the extraction of guano has been regulated to every 10 years.

The return trip to Paracas is a quick, very windy, direct boat ride to the dock. You should have some time to take photos of the friendly pelicans that hang out on the shore line beside the dock, do some souvenir shopping or grab a snack before heading on to your next destination.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Start your tour with a pickup from your centrally located hotel or at the bus station in Ica, early in the morning, 6:30am.
Drive along the South Panamerican highway for approx. 2-hours in a climate-controlled van with a small group of 15 people or fewer until reaching the district of Ocucaje. Once here, you will be able to admire the landscape of this desert.

Continue our journey to Canyon of the Lost, and on the way, we will stop at Pampa de Piedras where you will be able to take some great and funny pictures!
Carrying on with our journey we will reach the viewpoint of the Canyon of the Lost. The canyon was discovered in 2011, it has a total extension of 2 kilometres and a depth of 150 meters
The canyon is formed by the erosion of the Seco River, which flows into the Ica River, towards the Pacific Ocean.

The walking tour will start along a sandy path, with the incredible opportunity to see marine fossils such as whales and sharks. This fantastic place has been a seabed, with about 20 to 30 million years old.

Once we finish our walking tour, we will leave the canyon and start making our way back to the city of Ica. Upon arrival, we will drop you off at the hotel or bus station.

We are going to pick you up, at the hotel or bus station in the city of Ica, to start this amazing adventure to the Canyon of the Lost. In a 2-hour journey, our transport will take us through the South Panamerican highway, until we reach the district of Ocucaje. 3: Cañón de los Perdidos

On the way to the canyon, we are going to stop at Pampa de Piedras to spend a funny time taking pictures. Continuing with the tour, we will reach the Canyon of the Losts viewpoint. This wonder of the nature was discovered in 2011, and it has a total extension of 2 kilometers and a depth of 150 meters. The canyon is formed by the erosion of the Seco River, which flows into the Ica River, towards the Pacific Ocean. Among the fauna that we can find, we will admire birds such as buzzards and crows. The walking tour starts along a sandy path, with the incredible opportunity to see marine fossils such as whales and sharks. This fantastic place has been a seabed, with about 20 to 30 million years old. Explore the different levels of this rock formation, with figures carved naturally on the walls, and lagoons along the way. We will leave the canyon and start our way back to the city of Ica. It's important to know that during Peruvian holidays (Holy Week, Fiestas Patrias, New Year's Eve, and others), buggy services will be reduced due to high passenger demand during Peruvian holidays. Buggies typically operate for approximately one hour. It's recommended to select the last departure between 5:00 and 5:30 p.m. to complete the tour with a sunset view between approximately 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. (depending on the season).

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Huacachina

Our excursion starts from the Hotel "La Casa del Bamboo", located in the surroundings of the Huacachina Oasis. Then, our buggy driver will accompany our passengers to a tourist control booth, where our passengers must pay a tourist tax of S/3.60 soles per person. Then we will proceed to climb a small sand dune to board the Buggies and start the tour.

Our professional driver will start the desert tour and will make different stops so that our clients can appreciate the landscape, so they can take pictures.

Then we will drive our vehicle to the top of a large dune where our instructor guide will show you how to practice the sport of Sandboarding.

Once at the top you can enjoy this sport, and you can also take many photos.
