1: Herring Cove

We will disembark in Herring Cove for the opportunity to see black bears, harbor seals, eagles and salmon swimming upstream. Wildlife is never guaranteed because they are wild, but we have a good chance to see them here.

As we arrive back in town, we are happy to drop any guests at the historic Creek Street for a little shopping if they would like, or we will take you back to the location we picked up at the Vistors Center on Front Street.

Learn about the five different species of Salmon we have in Ketchikan, while viewing the Salmon swimming and jumping up a raging creek to reach their spawning grounds to lay their eggs.

We will stop at Rainbow Falls known for its mist caused by the raging waterfall. If it is a sunny day the mist creates a rainbow across the falls, hence the name. It is a fantastic photo opportunity.

1: Herring Cove

Herring Cove is the best place we can drive to for the chance to spot some wildlife. Bears are very common there especially in salmon spawning season (mid July through late September)

Bald eagles are extremely common there from May to August.

There are many different bird species you can sometimes spot including Kingfishers, blue heron, steller blue jays, and ravens.

Founded in 1976 the Totem Heritage Center contains amazing art, and 200+ year old totem poles.

The Totem Heritage Center preserves the art of the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples.

The Center houses endangered 19th century totem poles retrieved from uninhabited Tlingit and Haida village sites. The Center contains 33 authentic poles, numerous historic artifacts, and Native art works.

Rainforest walk among old growth trees and moss blanketed forest. Walk along cascading creek and stop at a beautiful waterfall viewing area on this nature trail. Local guide will point out the flora and how these resources were vital to the Alaska Natives. There are some stairs and uphill downhill portions of the trail. We do offer a 2 hour tour without any stairs as well.

At Clover Pass, youll meet your captain and first mate before stepping aboard an enclosed jet boat, the Miss Cindy. Prepare for a thrilling water adventure as your captain navigates through bays and inlets, while your narrator gives you insights on the land, the air, and the sea. Aboard the boat, you will have the opportunity to see the abundant wildlife of southeast Alaska, such as eagles, porpoises, and seals. From May through September, whales are often sighted along the tour route. Silverkings exclusive elevated boardwalk trail allows you to walk into the normally difficult to access rainforest. Begin your adventure by meeting your Captain & Naturalist at our hospitality space located on historic Thomas Street in downtown Ketchikan where you will be outfitted with rain gear (bibs & jacket), overboots, a dry bag for your belongings, and a USCG approved life jacket. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Our location at 124 Thomas St is about a 10-15 minute walk from Berths 1-3 and a 20 minute walk from Berth 4 and the Ward Cove shuttle drop off. Transportation from the downtown cruise ship docks is available upon request with at least 48 hrs notice. For guests arriving at Ward Cove, we have ship specific instructions regarding transportation. All tours depart from and return to the nearby Thomas Basin Boat Harbor in downtown Ketchikan.

Once everyone is outfitted in Alaskan fashion, your Captain will provide a short safety briefing before you climb aboard the Zodiac vessel and head out to sea!

Tongass National Forest (Pass by)

As you escape the cruise ship crowds of downtown, you'll learn about the colorful history of Ketchikan and begin your journey into the Tongass Narrows. Our trips are destination free by design meaning we will explore the waters surrounding the island based on the tides, weather, and wildlife activity. While we frequent the waters south of Ketchikan, the lack of set destination gives us the freedom to truly experience the magic of Southeast Alaska.

2: Inside Passage

During the 2.5 hours on the water, you will have the chance to view a variety of wildlife and breathtaking scenery all from an open Zodiac that allows you to experience Alaska with all of your senses. As we cruise along the rocky shorelines, keep an eye out for Sitka Black-tailed Deer, River Otter, or Mink as they forage on the beach while majestic Bald Eagles watch from the towering evergreens of the Tongass National Forest. At lower tides, we'll have the opportunity to take a look into the vibrant world of the intertidal zone and see creatures like Sea Stars, Giant Green Anemones, Sea Urchins, and much more! Continuing on through the protected waters of the Inside Passage, we will search for marine mammals like Harbor Seals, Steller Sea Lions, Porpoise, Humpback Whales, and Killer Whales (Orca) that call this area home. We look forward to sharing our beautiful island with you on this small group tour of 11 passengers. We will take a short tour through historic Ketchikan.

Our 2 hour private tour includes a beautiful scenic drive to and stop at the Ward Creek Nature Area. We will spend approximately 30 minutes taking a brisk walk on one of many trails admiring the beautiful environment. Our guides will provide insight about the local vegetation and environment. WHAT TO EXPECT

Find out what life is like as a commercial fisherman in Alaska on this Bering Sea fisherman's tour from Ketchikan. Step aboard the Aleutian Ballad, the 107-foot (33-meter) ocean-going vessel. Soak up the views from the open-air upper deck, or take a seat in the heated, enclosed amphitheater on the lower deck.

Your crew ties loose, push away from the dock and cruise through the waterways of the Inside Passage. Stay warm with a cup of provided hot chocolate, coffee, or tea, and hear about the Aleutian Ballads history as a commercial fishing boat, including how it became famous on season two of 'Deadliest Catch,' when the boat was struck by a 60-foot (18-meter) swell and survived to tell the tale. Ask them questionsthe crew loves to share stories about life at sea!

En route, keep your eyes peeled for eagles, sea lions, whales, and porpoises. Upon arrival at the fishing grounds, see firsthand how the crew bait the fishing gear with salmon and squid and toss the long-line barrel pots overboard. Then, watch in wonder as Bering Sea king crab is hauled up in 700-pound (320-kg) crab pots. Other sea creatures hauled on board include Dungeness crab, rockfish, ratfish, wolf eel, box crab, octopus, gray cod, prawn and more. The crew sorts through the catch, and places the fish and other marine life in a tank on the deck for your observation. Feel free to snap pictures and touch some of the catch before it is released back into the sea. Set voyage back to the dock after the crew has stowed all the fishing equipment.

1: Arctic Bar

Sample a drink specialty or beer at one of Ketchikan's oldest bars. Hear about the Arctic's history and other crazy stories of destruction in the area. Get to know the mascot with some great photos. Enjoy the view from the only bar with a deck dockside in town.

2: Sourdough Bar & Liquor Store

AKA The Shipwreck Bar. This is another one of the towns oldest bars and a favorite with the local fishermen.We'll sample their house specialty or a brew and peruse the amazing wall of shame of shipwrecked boats. You will also see amazingly large trophy fish and crab mounted on the walls.

3: Creek Street

Historic Red Light District along the beautiful Ketchikan Creek - a great place for photos and watching the salmon swim up stream to spawn. Along the way there, you will hear stories of the colorful past of Ketchikan, see historic buildings and get to stretch your legs along the fairly flat sidewalks through town.

4: Potlatch Bar

Another historic bar at the top of the Fishing Fleets' docks is a favorite Fishermen's hangout. Again, you will sample the "Latch's" specialty drink or enjoy a cold beer while wrapping up the tour with just a few more laughs and crazy stories from your tour guide, locals or the bartender.

The experience is uniquely yours and our crew will guide you through each step of the creative process:

Step 1: Select your preferred vessel from a variety of options from $15 to $49 and up. This rate includes all components of making one candle.

Step 2: Visit our wall of fragrances to begin creating your signature scent.

Step 3: Return to your station ready for assistance in the pouring process all tools will be provided.
