Once inside Arches National Park, your off-roading adventure begins when you leave the road by Doc Williams Point.
More than 2,000 giant sandstone arches are scattered throughout the park, which is the densest collection of naturally stone arches found anywhere in the world. Youll also find pinnacles, fins, and rocks along this epic landscape of rich red earth sculpted by time.
If some of this landscape looks familiar, its probably because youve seen it in the movies. Popular films such as *Thelma and Louise* were shot in portions of the park, as were scenes for *Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade*.
If you choose the late afternoon tour, theres a chance you could see a fiery sunset illuminate the red rocks. Once the sun is below the horizon, stars sparkle in one of the darkest skies in the American southwest.
Towards the end of the tour, youll leave the park via an old cowboy trail. Its here where youll stop to see fossilized dinosaur tracks stamped into the earth.

The drive to the Chesler Park area is approximately two hours, as its located out in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.
The reward for the lengthy drive, however, is sweeping vistas of desert landscapes youd expect to see in brochures, where multicolored rock formations emerge from the sun-scorched earth. Youll explore the ancient rock formations and weave through the cactus, looking for wildlife like mule deer, lizards, or herds of bighorn sheep.
At Elephant Hill, watch as your guide skillfully maneuvers what's known as one of Utahs most challenging 4x4 trails. Youll pass Devils Kitchen and Devils Lane before emerging at SOB Hill.
Towards the middle of the day, youll enjoy a tasty, buffet-style lunch at a panoramic viewpoint, and then be given the option of hiking along the dusty Joint Trail. The 3-mile (4.8km) loop leads towards the Chesler Park meadows, which are often considered as one of the parks most spectacularly scenic spots.
The trail itself weaves through towering boulders and an intriguing network of canyons, and even though the path is well groomed and the trail is well defined, its still a hike thats sufficiently challenging for even the most experienced of hikers. If youd prefer to skip the Joint Trail hike, youre allowed more time to photograph the views surrounding your scenic lunch spot, before continuing on in the 4x4 vehicle to remote sections of the park.
At the end of the day, having scoured the furthest and most isolated corners of Canyonlands National Park, your guide drops you off in the middle of Moab from where the tour began.NAVTEC Expeditions - Day Tours (Pass by)Make your own way to the conveniently located meeting point in Moab, then hop into the sturdy and comfortable 4WD vehicle for the scenic 2-hour drive to Chesler Park, located in the heart of the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.

Afterward, have the option to hike the Joint Trail to the spacious meadows of Chesler Park, one of Canyonlands' most spectacular spots. The trail has a good walking surface and steep uphill pitch in parts, making for a challenging hike suitable for strong hikers. Or skip the hike and simply relax at the vehicle with time to soak up the beauty around you. Either way, your 4WD tour takes you to some of the more remote parts of the Canyonlands so that you can experience this stunning landscape firsthand.Utah Scenic Byway 279 Rock Art Sites (Pass by)In an area filled with challenging mountain passes, technical terrain and plenty of level 2, 3 and 4 hikes, the Rock Art Sites of Moab offer travelers easy access to ancient drawings scattered along paths even a novice can navigate.Moab (Pass by)After a full day of exploring by 4WD, your guide returns you to your starting point in Moab to end your tour.ADDITIONAL INFOTravelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitnessThings to Bring: reusable bottle (your guide will have lots of extra water available), sun protection/camera/suitable attire and footwear for the weatherNAVTEC Expeditions is an authorized concessionaire of Canyonlands and Arches National ParkIf you have an Annual National Parks Pass, please bring this for your park entrance fee, otherwise you will need to purchase a day pass for $15Every 4x4 tour needs a minimum of 3 individuals to run.
