WHAT TO EXPECT
We will get you fit to the appropriately sized pedal assist electric bike. We will then give you a rundown of the operations of the e-bike. Helmets and locks are always included for free!

We will then go over a map (that is yours to take with you!) and explain how to navigate to all the points of interest like Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail, Barton Springs Pool, The Capitol and downtown, South Congress area, etc.

After getting outfitted on the bikes, create you and your group's own adventure! You can choose to stay along the 10-mile hike and bike trail or venture into the city, the choice is yours!

If you choose to keep the bike past one hour, we then pro-rate to the nearest 5-minute increment. After 3 hours, that is our day rate and you can keep the bikes until 6 for that price.

Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Watching (Pass by)

The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge crosses over Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. Congress Avenue Bridge is home to the world's largest urban bat colony, which is composed of Mexican free-tailed bats. The bats reside beneath the road deck in gaps between the concrete component structures. They are migratory, spending their summers in Austin and the winters in Mexico. According to Bat Conservation International,between 750,000 and 1.5 million bats reside underneath the bridge each summer.

Barton Springs Pool (Pass by)

Within Zilker Park's 358 acres lies one of the crown jewels of Austin: Barton Springs Pool. The pool itself measures three acres in size, and is fed from underground springs with an average temperature of 68-70 degrees, ideal for year-round swimming.

Zilker Metropolitan Park (Pass by)

Zilker Metropolitan Park is considered "Austin's most-loved park." This 351-acre metropolitan park is home to a variety of recreation opportunities, facilities and special events for individuals and families.

Haskell House (Pass by)

The historic Hezikiah Haskell House, located at 1703 Waterston Avenue, was built by Peter Tucker, a formerly enslaved man, and his wife, Betty, in about 1875

Lady Bird Lake (Pass by)

Auditorium shores is located on the south shore of Lady Bird Lake formerly known as Town Lake, immediately west of South 1st Street. To its south are the Long Center and Palmer Events Center. The Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail passes through the park from west to east near the shore; one of the trail's major trailheads adjoins Auditorium Shores.The site includes a memorial statue of late Austin resident Stevie Ray Vaughan, who played a number of concerts at Auditorium Shores. The park is known for its scenic view of the downtown Austin skyline.

"This Mediterranean style villa was built in 1916 for Henry H. and Clara Driscoll Sevier. The nine-block area of East Sixth Street roughly between Lavaca Street to the west and Interstate 35 to the east is recognized as the Sixth Street Historic District and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on December 30, 1975.Developed as one of Austin's trade and commercial districts in the late 1800s, the predominant building style are two- or three-story masonry Victorian commercial architecture. Most structures in the area had already been built by the 1880s, though a few notable exceptions include the Driskill Hotel (1886), the Scarbrough Building (1910), and the Littlefield Building. Previously know as Town Lake, Lady Bird Lake is a river-like reservoir on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas, United States. The City of Austin created the reservoir in 1960 as a cooling pond for a new city power plant. The lake, which has a surface area of 416 acres, is now used primarily for recreation and flood control.

With the completion of the Boardwalk portion of the Trail in June 2014, the 1.3 mile gap along the south shore has been closed, and the Trail now serves our city in an additional way as an alternative transportation route for our growing urban core.

Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Watching (Pass by)

From April to October visitors and residents alike line up nightly on the Congress Avenue Bridge to witness the bats fly out from beneath the bridge, forming a surreal dark cloud as they ascend into the night sky. Arrive early for a front row spot (the sidewalk gets crowded) and be sure to face the east, as the bats will fly out in that direction.

Paramount Theatre (Pass by)

The Paramount Theatre is a century-old performance venue and movie theater located in the heart of downtown Austin.

Some claim The Driskill Hotel is one of the most haunted hotels in the United States. Colonel Jesse Driskill opened the luxurious hotel in 1886.

Treaty Oak (Pass by)

The Treaty Oak is a Texas live oak tree in Austin, Texas, United States, and the last surviving member of the Council Oaks, a grove of 14 trees that served as a sacred meeting place for Comanche and Tonkawa tribes prior to European settlement of the area. Foresters estimate the Treaty Oak to be about 500 years old.[1] Before its vandalism in 1989, the tree's branches had a spread of 127 feet (39 m). The tree is located in Treaty Oak Park, on Baylor Street between 5th and 6th Streets, in Austin's West Line Historic District.

Maximum passenger weight cannot exceed 300lbs. All e-bike operators must be at least 60 inches tall.

This is a bicycle tour so you need to be able to safely and confidently ride a bicycle. We use e-bikes but they work on the same principle as a bicycle. No refunds will be given if you cannot pass our rider test and safety training. You don't need to be a Tour de France rider but if you can't ride down the street in your neighborhood we ain't the adventure for you.

You need to be on time and on time means 15 minutes before scheduled departure. If you cannot make it at least 15 minutes prior to departure time, DO NOT BOOK this adventure.

Upon meeting your guide at the Barton Springs Bike Rental & Tours office 15 minutes before departure time, youre fitted onto your pedal-assist electric bike and given a safety demonstration to ensure a fun and safe outing.

There are no out-of-pocket costs here, as your helmet and bike are included.

First, head out to see more of Austin in less timewithout squeezing into a bus. Your first stops are the famous Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park area, and the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial and Bouldin Creek neighborhood.

Continue to south Austin where you visit the Greetings from Austin and I love you so much murals. Stop to admire views of the Austin Skyline from South Congress and head to downtown.

There, youll ride to the Congress Bridge, home of Austins famous bat colony, and also stop for coffee and snacks (own expense).

Ride back to Barton Springs, where your tour ends.

Customers arrive at Barton Springs Bike Rental & Tours 15 minutes prior to tour start time. They will then be fitted to a pedal-assist electric bike, and go over the operations and safety. The tour begins by heading towards the famous Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park area. Up next is the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial and the Bouldin Creek neighborhood. Then head into south Austin to check out the "Greetings from Austin" and the very popular " I love you so much" murals. The breathtaking views of the Austin Skyline from South Congress will lead the tour into downtown. Here the customers will ride through the town heading towards the Congress Bridge, home of the bats, & state capitol. Halfway through the tour, we do stop for coffee/ snacks (not included) at a local Austin spot. All bikes are included in the price as well as water during and after the tour. Helmets are required. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes for bike riding and your camera for all the great photo opportunities.

15 minutes prior to your prearranged departure time, greet your guide at 1710 E. 2nd St. Here, youll be set up on a bike suited to your size.

From here proceed to the beautiful Roy and Ann Butler trail around Ladybird lake where youll hear about Austins natural and cultural history.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Make your own way to the bike shop at Zilker Park to meet your guide.

Get outfitted with your bike and helmet, then set out with your guide to see the best of Austin. Pedal along the hike-and-bike trail that runs through Zilker Park and around Lady Bird Lake. Turn north to check out the Italian Renaissance Revival of the Texas State Capitol building.

Learn about the city's history as you roll through downtown. Head down Congress Avenue and over the Congress Avenue Bridge, where 1.5 million bats take shelter between the months of March to November.

Continue to South Congress, Rainey Street, and the boardwalk trail. Get great photo opportunities throughout the bike tour.
The tour begins by going along the famous Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, Barton Springs Pool area, and Zilker Park. It then turns north to the Texas State Capitol where you will not only see downtown close up, but also learn a lot of the city's history. It is a great way to see a really large swath of Austin. All bikes are included in the price as well as a water during and after the tour. Helmets are required for anyone under the age of 18. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes for bike riding and your camera for all the great photo opportunities.
