Downtown Juneau-Mount Roberts Goldbelt Tramway - Instructions: We do not have a doc rep. Our bus driver will check you in on the sidewalk 15 minutes before the start time of your tour. We will meet you on the southern side of the Mount Roberts Goldbelt Tram. Arrive no later than your tour start time.
Please stay clear of the large crowd under the trees as that is an unaffiliated company's meeting area.
We drive a 28 passenger white Thomas bus that says Juneau Whale Tours/JWT on the side in dark blue lettering with our whale logo behind the rear tire. Our driver will be wearing a BRIGHT YELLOW HI-VIS VEST and holding a white sign with our whale logo and name on it.
We will return you to the same location at the end of your time with us.

Auke Bay/Statter Harbor - Instructions: 11497 Auke Bay Harbor Road Juneau, AK 99801. The meeting time on this end of town is 20 mins after your tour's start time. Watch for the JWT bus pulling into Statter Harbor at approximately the same time. We arrive and exit on the side of the marina with the grey building that has a "V" shaped roof. (Not the Harbor Office building.)

Let us show you around the waters of Juneau Alaska! We will pick you up in our complimentary bus (30 mins each way) and take you to our custom 40' catamaran with individual seating for 20 passengers. Once aboard our vessel our experienced naturalist and captain will take you out for 2.25 hours to show you the thriving marine wildlife in SE Alaska. We have designed our vessels for this area with spacious walk around decks so you can view whales in a more intimate setting. Join us for an experience that is a step above the rest.

Our certified Segway Guide will meet you and shuttle you a short 12 mile ride along the coastline and up Fish Creek Valley to Eaglecrest. After getting a safety helmet, a short Segway Training will be provided. Then the fun begins as we trail ride a winter Nordic Ski Trail up by and down gentle sloops, through pristine alpine meadows and wooded groves. Then A stop with a short 10 minute walk to explore the Tongass old growth forest and the historic Treadwell Ditch.

We will depart from our Auke bay facility and explore the islands and marine life rich waterways of Juneau on this aquatic adventure and our route will be decided based on customer ability and weather patterns. A typical day consists of amazing views of Mendenhall Glacier, a journey down the back side of Douglas Island, possible visits from Orca, Humpback, Seals, and an occasional bear sighting. (we DO NOT approach or harass any wildlife, and adhere to all NOAA and federal regulations) We will explore some of our favorite spots like Horse Island, Colt Island, Fritz Cove, Young Bay, Oliver Inlet, and "the Fortress of the Bear" Admiralty Island.

Upon booking, please make sure that you provide the name of the Cruise ship that you will be arriving on, we will expect to pick you up at that dock. We must know where to pick you up from ahead of time, as we only have representatives available to meet at docks where we have guests scheduled. There are multiple ships in port each day. This is crucial information for the day of your tour.

Cruise ship pick-up Instructions:
We pick up directly from YOUR cruise ship dock in Juneau. No need to walk into town (or take a shuttle)!
The local representative for your tour will be wearing bright orange and carrying an orange flag, holding a green Juneau Lighthouse Tours sign.
Meet on the main boardwalk/sidewalk in front of your ship on the dock.
DO NOT GO TO THE TRAM - stay at your ships gangway.
Meeting time is 15 minutes BEFORE your tour departure time. If you cannot locate your representative, stay put and call our DISPATCH/TRANSPORT Staff.

Any changes to your pick up location must be handled at least 24 hours in advance, and the tour provider must be contacted.

All Clients will be outfitted in double kayaks and must know how to swim. Clients should be able to confidently paddle for up to 2 hours.

Clients must disclose information regarding pertinent medical conditions/history, allergies and any type of restriction or limitation that might introduce a higher degree of challenge on this trip. Clients need to disclose any dietary restrictions.

Due to the inherent risks involved in this type of tour, pregnant guests are not permitted to participate.

This trip operates in all weather conditions (barring unsafe conditions, to be determined by ABAK) We cant stress enough how important it is to dress appropriately.

NOTE ON KAYAKING SIZE/WEIGHT LIMITATIONS: Our kayaks can accommodate a maximum torso (waist-chest) diameter of 52 inches (132cm). Maximum weight limits including gear are 300lbs (660kg) for single kayaks and 600lbs (1320kg) for double kayaks. People taller than 62 (198cm) have a hard time operating the rudder because the pedals only adjust to a certain maximum distance. However, people as tall as 66 have been able to paddle in our kayaks.

We have direct transportation to the Gearshack, (our outfitting office) and it takes approximately

We meet on the main cruise ship dock underneath a blue tent next to the Alaskan Public house (Alaskan Brewing Co.). On the other side of the tent there is a large parking garage with a mural painted on the side.
Please plan to arrive 1015 minutes early so we can get everyone geared up and ready to go.

Our tour takes place in the estuarial region directly in front of the Mendenhall glacier. The view that you get on our tour is one of the most complete views of the glacier in all of Juneau. You will be further away from the glacier than tours that go to or around the visitors center. Fog can affect the view of the Mendenhall Glacier.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your Alaska adventure begins at Juneaus main cruise ship terminal, where youll hop on an air-conditioned bus to Mendenhall Glacier. With 45 minutes to explore, youll get fantastic photo opportunities up close to the ice, plus time in the visitor center, on the trails, and at the bear-viewing platforms.

From there, youll head to the sea, where youll board a vessel built for wildlife-viewingwith comfy seats, oversized windows, a warm cabin, and a wrap-around outdoor deck. WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center

You will be dropped off at the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area for a self guided stop. You will be able to overlook the glacier from Photo Point Outlook, and stop by educational displays at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center. If you walk down the board walk over the salmon streams, you might get a chance to see spawning salmon, or even a bear!

2: Juneau

Take a mammal friendly jet boat out of Auke Bay Harbor, and explore the waters surrounding Juneau in search of the majestic humpback whale!

This tour includes two hours on the water where an experienced captain will take you to where ever the whales are hanging out that day!

First, hop into a canoe at Mendenhall Lake and paddle around luminescent blue icebergs and past cliffs and waterfalls toward Mendenhall Glacier. Clients staying at major hotels in the Mendenhall Valley may be picked up directly from their hotel.

Clients with their own transportation need to contact our office to arrange a meeting location.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Glacier Canoe Paddle and Hike is our most sought-after adventure. Your journey begins at the Mendenhall Lake, where a canoe guide will provide paddle instruction. Equipped with gear, board your spacious canoe and set course for the Mendenhall Glacier. Witness Arctic tern nesting grounds and the cascading Nugget Falls as you glide past, with stunning views of the glacier in the distance. As the glacier draws near, keep your eyes peeled for freshly calved icebergs.

Exit the canoes and hike the rocky terrain, gaining intimate views of the glacier and learn about its rapid recession. Explore this ancient ice age wilderness and marvel at its ice features, including crevasses, ice fall at the toe of the glacier, and other deep blue mysteries. Constantly changing, the glacier offers a unique experience each day. This tour does not venture onto the glacier, but delivers front-row views. After immersing yourself at the glacier, board the canoes and paddle back across Mendenhall Lake.

Please note, this tour requires a minimum of 4 to operate. If minimum requirement is not met, reservation is subject to change or cancellation.

Maximum weight 250 pounds

You must include the following in the comments section when booking: raingear & shoe sizes for each passenger, (for adult men and women, S-XXL and youth, S-L) and any pertinent medical information. Smallest shoe size that can be accommodated is Youth 2 and largest is Adult 14.

All clients will be outfitted in 8 person or 12 person canoes, with 1 to 2 guides depending on the group size.

All clients must be in physically fit condition and capable of paddling 5-6 miles and hiking about 2 miles roundtrip. All clients must know how to swim.

Due to the inherent risks involved, we do not permit pregnant guests to participant.

With group departures we try to maximize our trip capacity and subsequently may need to alter the time to accommodate additional customers. If your trip's departure time changes we will notify you as soon as possible.

Glacier Access and feature exploration: The Mendenhall Glacier is receding daily. Because the glacier is in a state of constant change, not all features may be present or accessible. We will explore the edges of the glacier safely from the bedrock. This tour does not include trekking on the glacier.

A specific amount of time exploring the edge of the glacier cannot be guaranteed. The amount of time at the glacier is dependent on the group's pace and weather conditions

Clients must disclose information regarding pertinent medical conditions/history, allergies and any type of restriction or limitation that might introduce a higher degree of challenge on this trip.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY/ASSUMPTION OF RISK FORM: Every participant on the trip must sign a Release of Liability/Assumption of Risk form at the start of the trip. Alterations and/or deletions to the waiver are not permitted.
