All participants arrive 30 minutes prior to reservation time, where they will be greeted and checked in by our staff.

Once geared up, we walk down to the beach and our certified guides will go over all safety procedures and provide a tutorial / refresher for best practices on how to kayak in the Ecological Reserve.

The tour departs from the beach, and heads due west about two miles where we try to find migrating grey whales. Tours stop periodically to take breaks, as well as view passing marine life.

No experience required. Must be age five years and older to participate.

I'm an avid snorkeler myself and I thought to myself, " If I was on vacation why would I spend money on a mediocre snorkel set that I have to pack into my suitcase after only using for a couple hours and never use it again. If you have any trouble finding the San Diego Tours and Rentals Shop, just call us and we'll find you! We recommend walking to our shop, if you are staying local, or getting dropped of by a ride share (Uber/Lyft) if you aren't staying local. If you end up driving, then here are some recommendations for parking. There are several paid parking lots around our shop, but there is limited free parking. The two best streets for free curbside parking, are on Ivanhoe and Park Row, which are one block north of our shop. Do not park in the 2 hour parking spacing in front of our shop, as the tour will last longer than that, all said and done. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your ride, to make sure you have time for parking and check in.

Explore the fascinating world of tide pools and discover the incredible variety of animal and plant life that inhabit these unique ecosystems! With guided tours for all ages, you'll learn about different species that live in the tide pools, their adaptations to survive in this environment, and what you can do to protect them. So come join us and experience the wonders of the tide pools!

Tide pools, or rocky intertidal zones, are small collections of ocean water trapped by rocks as the ocean level recedes. This area is covered by the ocean half of the day- during high tide- and the pools are exposed at low tide, which creates a unique, yet fragile, habitat for lots of small invertebrates and fish.

At our meeting spot, you will receive a brief talk on safety and tide pool rules, as all San Diego tide pools have a strict "no collection" policy. Once we understand how to tide pool safely and respectfully, the adventure begins!

Any living animals found will be left on their own; we do not interfere, touch, or handle any living marine life, following Viator's Animal Welfare Policy.

Canyoning in Torrey Pines begins when you meet your expert guide in the free parking lot. As an amateur photographer, theyll give you tips along the way for snapping the best photos, no matter if its a daylight or moonlit trek.

But first, youll have to earn the incredible Pacific Ocean views with a climb into the slot canyon. Ropes and climbing gloves are included to help you descend into the canyon.

Once you reach the sandy shoreline at the bottom, hike across the secluded beach together to the canyons mouth. Make sure you take this walk at a comfortable pace; the hike back up the canyon can be strenuous.

Our kayak rentals give you 90 minutes to cruise around the La Jolla Ecological Reserve at your own pace. Well provide all the equipment youll need, along with a safety briefing so you know where you can and cant go. Guests may see a variety of marine life while kayaking around the ecological reserve. You might see different kinds of fish, birds, seals, sea lions, dolphins and even whales (depending on the time of year.) Explore the sublime scenery and wealth of wildlife near La Jolla during this sea kayaking trip to explore the areas beautiful coastline and sea caves. Whether youre a nature lover or simply looking to add a little adventure to your trip in San Diego, this excursion is a great option for kayaking novices and experts alike.

Select from a morning or afternoon departure and leave from Avenida de la Playa in La Jolla. Meet your guide for the trip and start with a short introduction to proper paddling technique and safety instructions. Then bring your boat down to the beach at La Jolla Shores to begin your ride.

Paddle along the shores of the areas beautiful rocky coastline, heading toward the La Jolla Sea Caves. Keep your eyes peeled for any number of marine species that populate this stretch of coastline. Most trips spot a variety of sea birds along with sea lions and seals. If youre particularly lucky, you may also see dolphins or even orcas splashing nearby.

During your kayaking experience, pass through some of the areas unique rock formations, journey through the sprawling forests of kelp and get a chance to explore the areas sea caves (pending current conditions and your guides decision). Finish your ride with an exhilarating kayak surf ride, following the waves as they push you back into shore.

Please note: Participants should be prepared to get wet during the ride. Entrance into the caves is not guaranteed, as it depends on the ability level of group participants, current ocean conditions, and the discretion of your guide. Participants should be at least six years old and able to swim.

No experience is needed! Your knowledgable guide will help you learn the basics and tour you around one of the premier eco-tourist destinations in San Diego.

After a brief paddle instruction and safety talk, you'll take your kayak down to the beach in La Jolla Shores and paddle to the La Jolla Sea Caves taking in the gorgeous views and watching for the abundant wildlife. You'll also go through the incredible rock formations and caves (if conditions permit), through the expansive kelp forests and wildlfie hot spots and cap it all off with a kayak surf ride back to the beach.

You can see numerous types of sea birds and usually sea lions, seals and sometimes dolphins or even orcas!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Guests will participate in a 90-minute, fully-guided tour of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and the famous Seven Sea Caves. Our tour guides will lead you through the reserve and give you insider knowledge of the area, including local history, marine life, and conservation efforts.

All guests must arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in. Our staff will get each guest ready inside our shop. Once outfitted properly, guests will walk down to the beach, in which our staff will provide an overview of what they will be doing along with best practices / tutorial and a safety briefing for the experience.

This activity is suitable for ages 5 and up and does not require any prior experience.

Starting from the north part of La Jolla, the tour will introduce you to the sublime Mormon Temple and the gorgeous University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus.

From there, we will head to Torrey Pines Glide Port where paragliders can be observed as they take off and land from atop the 400 foot cliffs. Below the cliffs is Blacks beach, what was the countrys first nudist beach which it remains to this day.

The next stop is the La Jolla Shores Beach & Scripps Pier, where surfers ride the waves year-round.

Next, we descend down through some seriously fancy neighborhoods and beautiful mansions to arrive at one of our favorite little hidden beaches even locals seldom know about.

After a visit to the La Jolla Cove near the secret smugglers cave, the tour concludes in downtown La Jolla, where you have the chance to observe hundreds of sea lions basking in the sun, and enjoy the culinary and cultural offerings of this true jewel of a city.
