Mr. Manson Yazzie's family continues to live in this area practice Dine traditional way of life, they maintain horse, and other various livestock on their lands.

Upper or lower Antelope Canyon is based on your preference and choice of option at the time of booking. Navajo Upper Antelope Canyon is a slot canyon in the American Southwest, on Navajo land east of Lechee, Arizona. It includes five separate, scenic slot canyon sections on the Navajo Reservation.

2: Lower Antelope Canyon

The Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hazdistazí, or 'spiral rock arches' by the Navajo, is located several miles from the Upper Antelope Canyon. Prior to the installation of metal stairways, visiting the canyon required climbing pre-installed ladders in certain areas.

3: Antelope Canyon Navajo Tours

Upper Antelope Canyon is called Ts bighnln, 'the place where water runs through rocks' by the Navajo. It is the most frequently visited by tourists because its entrance and entire length are at ground level, requiring no climbing; and because beams of direct sunlight radiating down from openings at the top of the canyon are much more common. Beams occur most often in summer, as they require the sun to be high in the sky. Winter colors are more muted.

4: Horseshoe Bend

After the Upper or Lower Canyon visit, you will go to Horseshoe Bend. It is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River, located in the town of Page, Arizona, United States. The hike is about. 6 miles one-way to the overlook. The overlook is about a 1,000 meter drop, looking down onto the Colorado River.

5: Glen Canyon Dam Overlook

A short hike down a set of rock-carved stairs leads to this viewpoint on the rim of the river & dam. This short walk takes you to a viewpoint on the canyon rim high above the Colorado River. It affords an unparalleled view of the river, the canyon, and Glen Canyon Dam. This scenic view provides spectacular vistas of the Colorado River as it flows through Glen Canyon and of Glen Canyon Dam itself. From the parking area, follow the metal handrail down the uneven rock steps.

1: Antelope Canyon X by Taadidiin Tours

The 1.5-hour Antelope Canyon X hiking tour begins at the Navajo Nation Reservation. After parking and payment, you are transported in a 4×4 transport vehicle 3 miles to the mouth of Antelope Canyon X, where you then hike 100 meters into Antelope Canyon X. At the bottom, tour guides assist you through a tour of the first slot canyon. After the first slot canyon is complete, guides accompany you on the 200-meter walk to the second slot canyon.

If you are choosing the photography tour, you will have 2.5 hours in canyon. This tour is for photography hobbyists, people looking to spend more time in the canyon and make use of a tripod.

1: Antelope Canyon X by Taadidiin Tours

In Antelope Canyon, there is an X formed by the impact of millions of years of flooding and wind. This "Antelope Canyon X" is located just southeast of Page and belonging to the Navajo Indian Reserve. It is in a dry year-round river course.

Take a short drive to the entrance of the X Canyon. Explore the beauty of the X Gorge with the local Native Guide. Explore the slit gorge on a hiking trip. Walk first 100 meters to X Canyon to see the first slit-type canyons, which is hidden in the foot seams and full of mysteries. Then walk 200 meters with your guide to reach the second gorge. Overlooking from the air, you will see the water flowing in the sand and stones. In this gorge, the X formed by the millions of years of flooding and wind-engraving Navajo sandstone will stand out clear as day. When the sun shines on two deep and quiet valleys, the light and shadow will create a charming tableaux. It has become am exciting destination for photography enthusiasts so feel free to take as many photos as you'd like!

OVERVIEW

Antelope Canyon is located within the Navajo Nation and can be visited only on guided tours. This small-group tour from Page visits both the upper and lower sections of the canyon in half a day of hiking and exploring. Arrived at the lower canyon, descend the wooden steps and ladders to explore the canyon floor and slot chambers. After a short snack break at the picnic area, spend a few hours hiking around the lower canyon and to the top.

Pick up from 28 select hotels/Airbnbs and two campgrounds within City Limits of Page, Arizona, 15-20 minutes before your tour. We do not pick up from Page Lake Powell Resort. If you do not have a hotel pickup location set or plan on driving in on the day of your tour, we do ask our guest to meet us at the Walmart Super Center in Page, Arizona.

Our first stop is the Lower Antelope Canyon. Lower Antelope Canyon is a MODERATE tour for guest. You will hike 1.1 miles from start to finish (1770.27 meters). Upon entering the Canyon, you will descend 74 steps to the bottom of the Canyon Six sections of stairs will safely get you to the bottom. Once at the bottom you will hike at a gradual incline towards the exit along with stairs into each chamber of the Canyon. The tour guides will give you photo tips and information of the Slot Canyons. As well as cultural information of the Dineh.

Our second portion of the tour will be at the Upper Antelope Canyon. Upper Antelope Canyon is an easy hike for guest. Transport to the entrance of the Canyon is located 4 miles from the main highway. From the drop off point at the entrance will be a 1-mile hike roundtrip (1609 meters). Upon exiting the Canyon, you will hike on an incline up and around the top of the Canyon and descend 150 steps staircase back to the vehicle drop-off point. You will do a 1-hour tour and will see the difference in the Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons.

Lastly, after your tour is completed, we will drop you off back at your hotel/Airbnb location.

Pick up starts 15-20 minutes before your tour time. We do multiple pick ups, so please patiently wait in the lobby and we will get to you.

Dineh Tours observes Mountain Standard Time (MST)/Phoenix, Arizona on your phone. We share the same time as the City of Page, Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. Guest will experience a 1-hour time change after leaving Flagstaff and Grand Canyon, as they drive through the Navajo Nation. The same for guest traveling from Las Vegas, parts of Utah State will be 1-hour ahead. This time change is noted in all your electronic devices, we suggest to manually set your time zone to Phoenix global time to avoid dealing with the time changes.

The trip begins in Page, AZ with boarding our bus and driving to Lees Ferry. Once at Lees Ferry join your guide on your raft for the morning. You will start your trip by motoring up to Petroglyph Beach and its fascinating archeological site. Look up in awe at the soaring cliffs above Horseshoe Bend as you learn the stories of the Ancestral Puebloan people who lived in the area. Enjoy floating while taking in the views of Glen Canyon. Arrive at the check-in site, giving time for our guest to park their vehicles, and leave anything they do not need or allowed on the guided tour there. Then complete their final check-in process with the local Navajo Indian guides at the tour building and be ready to depart on the tour once their group's turn to enter is called.

Pick up from 28 select hotels/Airbnb's and two campgrounds within the City Limits of Page, Arizona, 15-20 minutes before your tour. We do not pick up from Page Lake Powell Resort. If you do not have a hotel pickup location set or plan on driving in on the day of your tour, we do ask our guest to meet us at the Walmart Super Center in Page, Arizona.

Our first stop is the Lower Antelope Canyon. Lower Antelope Canyon is a MODERATE tour for guest. You will hike 1.1 miles from start to finish (1770.27 meters). Upon entering the Canyon, you will descend 74 steps to the bottom of the Canyon. Once at the bottom you will hike at a gradual incline towards the exit along with small stairs into each chamber of the Canyon. The tour guides will give you photo tips and information of the Slot Canyons. As well as cultural information of the Dineh.

After the Lower Antelope Canyon we will stop at a picnic area where you may use the restroom. Additional food and drinks may be purchased at this location.

The second portion of the tour will be at the Horseshoe Bend Overlook. The Horseshoe Bend is all flat smooth surfaced path. You will hike three quarters(3/4) of mile to the picturesque Overlook (1.5 miles/1770meters roundtrip).

Lastly, after your tour is completed, we will drop you off back at your hotel/Airbnb location.

Pick up starts 15-20 minutes before your tour time. We do multiple pick ups, so please patiently wait in the lobby and we will get to you.

Dineh Tours observes Mountain Standard Time (MST)/Phoenix, Arizona on your phone. We share the same time as the City of Page, Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. Guest will experience a 1-hour time change after leaving Flagstaff and Grand Canyon, as they drive through the Navajo Nation. The same for guest traveling from Las Vegas, parts of Utah State will be 1-hour ahead. The lighting is known to be better during the early and late morning. Located a few miles from Upper Antelope, Lower Antelope Canyon, known as "spiral rock arches" by the Navajo, is great for those looking for a little hike and a photographer's dream. The lower canyon is in the shape of a "V" and shallower than the Upper Antelope. Lighting is better in the early hours and late morning.

1: Lower Antelope Canyon

Over the years, Lower Antelope Canyon has become a favorite gathering place for photographers, tourists, and visitors from around the world.
The views in Lower Antelope Canyon change constantly as the sun moves across the sky, filtering lights softly across the stone walls. These ever-moving sun angles bounce light back and forth across the narrow canyons walls, creating a dazzling display of color, light, and shadow.
The Navajo name for Lower Antelope Canyon is Hasdeztwazi or Spiral Rock Arches. Many years ago, herds of Pronghorn Antelope roamed freely in and around the canyon, which explains the English name. This incredible canyon has been created over millions of years by the relentless forces of water and wind, slowly carving and sculpting the sandstone into forms, textures, and shapes which we observe today.

Warning: When the temperature reaches 110°F (43°C), Antelope Canyon will probably be closed, for your safety, due to excessive heat. During July and August, this can happen as early as 11AM each day.

There are steel ladders anchored into the canyon walls. The ladders vary from 3 ft. to 25 ft. being the longest. Ladders over 8 ft. have handrails in place. The canyon is easily accessible going in and out. There are escape rope ladders placed on top of the canyon, in metal boxes, for any type of emergencies.

It begins with boarding a comfortable open air or enclosed vehicle and taking a short three-mile drive from Page, AZ on Highway 89. From here, you will exit the highway and enjoy a thrilling six-mile off-road adventure drive through sandy washes, rolling hills to arrive south of Lake Powell in Antelope Canyon. There you will enjoy a 300-meter nature walk to the entrance of one of the longest slot canyons to be toured on the Navajo Nation. 1: Buckskin Gulch

Your guide will pick you up at the desired meeting point and take you to see the largest slot canyon system in the world. They will drive you in a 4x4 vehicle to the trailhead. 4x4 is not always required however the road can be impassable without it. The hike for the day is out and back and typically ranges from 2 - 10 miles. Your guide will have your permit for the day. They will hike through Wire Pass with you and into Buck Skin Gulch. They will teach you about the area and how the canyons were formed. You will learn about have people throughout history have interacted with this land.
