This is as close as anyone can get to Niagara Fallswithout riding over them in a barrel, of course. This seasonal (May to October) tour travels to all the edges of the falls.

At the waterfall, one of the largest in the United States, take an elevator 175 feet (53 meters) down into Niagara Gorge. The boat starts off at a calm part of the Niagara River, near the Rainbow Bridge, and takes its passengers past the American and Bridal Veil Falls, then into the dense mist of spray inside the curve of the Horseshoe Falls, also known as the Canadian Falls. (Seasonal, May through October).

An elevator takes you from the area between the American and Canadian Falls down to the level of the Niagara River at the base of the American Falls. 1: Devil's Hole State Park

Meet your guide at the Devils Hole State Park. There is free parking at Devil's Hole park (no oversized RV parking). We will meet at the restroom building at the north end of the park.

Devil's Hole Park offers views of the Niagara River, New York Power Authority Dam and Lewiston/Queston Bridge to Canada. We will have a brief overview of the tour and a hiking safety discussion.

We will begin the hike by descending 400+ stone steps into the Niagara River Gorge. From there will head south on the path towards Devils Hole.

2: Devil's Hole State Park

The hiking path is wide and flat at first and can get muddy if we had recent rain. The trail begins to narrow and gets rocky and slopes into the gorge. Your duide will give you tips of how to safely navigate this part of the trail. We will reach Devils Hole and discuss historical significance of the area.

3: Whirlpool State Park

We will contune hiking toward the Whirlpool and learn about the old Niagara River Gorge Railway. We will navigate through some large rocks, tree roots and see rock slides all while having views the the Niagara River. As we get closer to the Whilpool you'll see and hear the roar of the Class 5 rapids. We will stop at key spots of some photos and water breaks. stops for photos of the swirling aqua blue water.

4: Whirlpool State Park

We will reach Butterfly Rock Landing at the Whirlpool.
Enjoy some free time for independent exploration and to experience the powerful twists and churs of the rapids. You can also just sit and relax, enjoy blu-green aqua river water, watch and wave to the jet boats or the Aero Car above you.

5: Whirlpool State Park

We will head back 1/2 mile to the Whirlpool stone staircase and hike 400+ step stone to the rim of the gorge. This is the most challenging part of the hike, but we will stop as many times as needed to rest and take water breaks.

When the entire group reaches to the top of the stairs, we will hike 1/2 mile along the upper rim of the gorge to the Whirlpool overlook. There you will be able to see the Buttlerfly rock below and the areas we explored.

Our last stop will be for a bathroom break at the small Whirlpool park visitors center. From there there will be two options to return to the Devil's Hole Parking lot starting point:

Option 2: You will hike along the upper rim gorge trail back to Devil's Hole parking lot one your own without the guide. This one mile hike is on a wide dirt path and will add 30-45 minutes to the tour.

The Niagara River runs north from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, forming part of the border between the Province of Ontario in Canada and the State of New York in the U.S. Beginning from Grand Island, N.Y., climb aboard a single or double kayak and paddle along a relatively easy route that includes the scenic sights and abundant wildlife of the Upper Niagara River islands.

Pass the River Lea Farmhouse, a Victorian farmhouse located in the Beaver Island State Park where President Grover Cleveland worked at his first job for his uncle.

Look for a variety of waterbirds on Motor Island, including egrets, great blue herons and Caspian terns, among others. Then theres Strawberry Island with its deep lagoon, its one of the most significant aquatic ecosystems in the Great Lakes region.

Enjoy being out on the water and learn a thing or two about the history of the area. Tour includes a light snack, water, and all the necessary equipment.

The Niagara River follows a 36 mile course flowing first around Grand Island before cascading over the brink of Niagara Falls more than 15 miles downstream. It is at the southern tip of Grand Island that your kayak tour begins. Your guide will lead you along some of the very same canoe trails that were used by the early settlers of the Niagara frontier. As you paddle through the tranquil river waters you will learn about the geology, history and ecology of the Niagara River. You will get to visit the restored East River Marsh, an active heron rookery on Motor Island and you will even land on Strawberry Island where you may see the Bald Eagles that are in residence. Birdlife abounds and it is likely that you will encounter great blue herons, great egrets, black crowned night herons, ospreys and spotted sandpipers as well as a variety of gulls and terns so plan on bringing a camera.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Experience fun the way Americans did 100 years ago at the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda, New York just 25 minutes from Niagara Falls, NY.

The museum is one of the last existing wooden carousel complexes in the US. Today, the building contains a large carving shop, a woodworking shop, a paint shop, a storage area, an upholstery shop, a machine shop and a roundhouse where carousels were assembled and tested before shipping. The complex is a series of seven interconnected structures which once housed all of the manufacturing components of the Allan Herschell Company. It is listed on both the New York State and National Registers of Historic Sites.

Inside, enjoy everything from glittering carousels to scholarly archives.

Theres a historic carousel 40 feet in diameter with 36 hand-carved horses and over 580 lights and a small, 1940s aluminum carousel known as the Kiddie Carousel, located in the Childrens Gallery. Over the summer, check out the Kiddieland Testing Park Exhibit, featuring four refurbished kiddie rides from the factorys postwar baby boom era, as well as a picnic pavilion and admissions house.

Theres an Artizan-style D band organ. The Wurlitzer Music Roll Department is a one-of-a-kind exhibit that shows how carousel music was made. In the wood-carving shop, see how blocks of wood were transformed into horses for the carousels. And the Lockman Collection displays the changes of carousel animals over a period of 60 years.

Before leaving, be sure to stop by the gift shop for carousel-inspired collectibles and toys. Also, purchase tickets, memberships, music rolls and more.

1: Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum

The Herschell companies in North Tonawanda (located just 20 minutes from Niagara Falls, New York) produced over 3,000 hand-carved, wooden carousels. Many of their carousels were portable with simply carved horses, meant to be used by traveling carnivals. They were shipped all over the country. Today 71 of the 148 antique, hand-carved wooden carousels still in existence in the United States and Canada were made by Herschell. In the 1930s, the company started making small metal amusement rides for children and promoting a 'kiddieland' package to small businesses.

During a visit, view exhibits, watch a wood carving demonstration, listen to the magical sounds of a band organ, view the music roll-making shop, ride a 1916, hand-carved carousel, ride four kiddie rides (in the summer), and shop in an extensive gift shop.

The Maid Of The Mist is a world-famous boat ride that began operation in 1846! During your ride you will get up close to all 3 waterfalls; firstly the American falls, then the Bridal Veil falls and finally the Canadian Horse-Shoe falls. During this unforgettable experience, the mist from the thundering waterfalls showers you! Waterproof ponchos will be available for everyone.

After taking in the surreal view of the falls from the Maid Of The Mist boat ride, youll take an elevator up to the Observation Deck which gives you a different, elevated look over the falls. Pictures taken from this spot are epic!

Your guide will walk you down to Luna Island to see the Bridal Veil falls and American falls up close, all the while providing you with interesting and exciting information about the history of the falls and details of nature of the falls.

6: Cave of the Winds

This experience is only available on the American side of the falls! During this adventure you will walk through a small interactive museum followed by a thrilling cinema-like experience about Nikola Tesla and his groundbreaking invention, using the water from the falls to generate electricity- a method still used today! After this comes the serious fun; after poncho-ing up yet again, you will walk on a wooden deck right under the Bridal Veil falls, which is rebuilt every year. This is the only place where you can actually touch the water from the falls. Not only is the feel of the water cooling, but the view is indescribable! But theres more! Youll then make your way to the hurricane deck where you can experience 60,000 gallons of water thundering down over you (if you wish)!

7: Horseshoe Falls

An unbelievable view of the Canadian Horse-shoe falls from right next to it. Watch from above how the powerful stream of flowing water suddenly thunders down the falls and creates enough mist to see from a mile away!
