Where to Stay in Guam

Tamuning-Tumon

The Tamuning-Tumon neighborhood puts visitors right in the center of the island’s tourism activity. The neighborhood is filled with many accommodation options, restaurants, shops, bars, and beaches. A popular and convenient place to stay with many things near hotels, and alot of tourist attractions. A busy tourist center, visitors flock here for the beautiful Tumon Bay and its attractive white sand beaches and protected waters. There are great mountain and ocean views, historical sites, great dining and shopping, and entertainment options. There’s a thriving nightlife scene here. Tumon Bay is a thriving premier resort destination. Accommodation types range from simple hotels to all-inclusive beach resorts. 

South Guam Island

Hagatna

Hagatna is the capital of Guam, located in the island’s heart center. A small neighborhood but a major commercial district and seat of government. There are some good accommodation options to choose from and plenty of waterfront restaurants and shops. The popular Wednesday Night Market is held here, and the Agana Shopping Center is also located in this neighborhood. There is a 2.5-mile Hagatna Heritage Walking Trail that winds its way through the village connecting 17 historical sites. 

Hagat

The village of Hagat, formerly Agat, is located on the western shores of the island and is known for its slower pace and natural beauty along its sparkling coastline. A tranquil seaside neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city center, it has a good selection of accommodations, restaurants, shops, and some of Guam’s finest beaches. A lot of the hotels and resorts here have beachfront access and outstanding views of the beach and the stunning Philippine Sea. The Naval Base is close to Hagat, and there is a breathtaking road that runs along the coast with outstanding views and access to different beaches like Nimitz Beach. 

Barrigada

Barrigada is a centrally located neighborhood, making it an easy and convenient place to stay on the island. It is located close to Guam Airport, an affluent neighborhood set on Guam’s limestone plateau, with high-end hillside homes and some great accommodation options. Barrigada stretches from the cliff line that overlooks Harmon Industrial Park in the East to Mt. Barrigada in the north. The central location of this neighborhood puts guests near shopping, dining, entertainment, and transport. Properties located in Barrigada Heights and around Mount Barrigada boast excellent views overlooking most of the island, including Tumon Bay. 

Inalahan

The tranquil neighborhood of Inalahan, formerly Inarajan, is located on the southeastern coastline of Guam. It’s a beautiful fishing village and one of the oldest in the country. It boasts a rich history that predates the island’s discovery by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. A beautiful and serene well-preserved Spanish-style village filled with tradition, historical, cultural, and natural attractions. The true heart of the island, with some great places to stay. 

Malesso

Malesso (formerly Merizon) is a coastal neighborhood skirting the southernmost shores of Guam on a long strip of land between the mountains and sea. It is one of the most picturesque places to stay on the island home to the beautiful Cocos Island, Cocos Lagoon, and Cocos Island Resort that draws in day visitors. A peaceful beachside community close to the water and all its attractions, there are some great places to stay in this area. 

Yona

Yona is a neighborhood located on the southeastern side of the island on a plateau overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It stretches from the south side of Pago Bay for 6 miles to the north side of the bridge at Jeff’s Pirates Cove in Ipan, Talo’fo’fo. There are a few good places to stay and some good restaurants, many boasting some of the best ocean views.

North Guam Island

Dededo

Dededo is Guam’s most populated neighborhood, a highly desirable place to live and stay. Dededo offers many accommodations for guests and some of the best amenities with quick, easy access to dining, shopping, beaches, and more. The Micronesia Mall, which is the largest shopping mall in the region, and the Dededo Flea Market are some popular places to shop in this neighborhood. Dededo is also close to some picturesque beaches, including Shark Cove.
