City Center

The city center of Luang Prabang is a vibrant and vital area filled with traditional French colonial architecture and Lao urban structures that house many accommodations. A lot of the buildings and other structures in the city were built by the European colonial authorities between the 19th and 20th centuries. The city center is remarkably well preserved and illustrates the blending of two distinct cultural traditions. Luang Prabang is set in the heart of mountainous Northern Laos at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers.
