Hanga Roa
The main town on the remote Easter Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is, Hanga Roa, situated on the northwestern coast. This is the main starting point on the island where the airport is located and a great place for exploring all the archaeological sites that Easter Island has to offer. The laid-back island town boasts many hotels, restaurants, shops, and other attractions making it a great location for visitors to stay.
The town is conveniently located near many of the island`s main attractions which include archaeological sites, volcanoes, moai statues, museums, and beautiful beaches. Visitors can browse the artisan markets, fishing port, and the vibrant Hanga Roa church. The downtown area features simple hotels and guesthouses with charming surroundings and a laid-back island atmosphere. Many of the town`s restaurants are located on the main street and near the harbor with a few others scattered around town. The cost of hotels on the island tends to be pricey due to its remote location and exceptional landscapes and vistas.
Outskirts
The outskirts of Easter Island include a few upscale luxury hotels and lodges located outside of Hanga Roa. These accommodations boast privileged locations with breathtaking views over the island and the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
The interesting island is a triangular shape featuring extinct volcanoes that stand at each point with wide, grassy landscapes, sheer cliffs, hidden caves, and secluded beaches found all around the coast. Staying in the outskirts gives guests great access to the island's attractions including the famous moai statues dotted all around the circumference.
