City Center

The Kinondoni district is the most populated area in Dar es Salaam housing half of the city’s population and home to several high-income suburbs. This is one of the five districts in the city. Masaki, Oyster Bay, and Ada Estate are a few of the high-income suburbs that are located along the central beach area, where diplomats and expatriates reside. Oyster Bay Beach is also known as Coco Beach, it is the only white sand beach east of Kinondoni. This neighborhood is home to many tourist hotels and other accommodations some with beachfront access and views of the Indian Ocean. There are some western-oriented resorts, a nice mixture of traditional shops as well as beachfront restaurants and bars. Visitors can choose from a wide variety of accommodations such as hotels, resorts, beachfront properties, chalets, campsites, and hostels. Many of the accommodations here feature some great amenities such as swimming pools, spas, on-site restaurants, and bars along with very comfortable rooms and some fantastic views.
