Durban Beach

Durban Central or Beach is a vibrant, diverse neighborhood that stretches along the coast. The coastline is backed by a ridge of hills that encircle the harbor and beaches creating the landlocked area. The beaches are the main attraction here with the famous Golden Mile which stretches from Ushaka to the Suncoast Casino complex, it is dotted with beachfront shops, cafes, restaurants, and beach bars. The broad promenade here is popular for walking, running, cycling, and skateboarding and the waters are great for swimming and surfing. Staying in this central location allows visitors some great options for accommodations many along the coastline and with some fantastic views. There are ample places to choose from with hotels, resorts, suites, and lodges. This popular neighborhood is decorated with beautiful, lush, verdant parks like Peoples Park which is popular for families offering a play area, a cafe, and a sports field. Durban North

Durban North is a beautiful small neighborhood that is popular with tourists and a great place to stay. It is a family-friendly area with lots of activities, the neighborhoods are located close to the beach and other convenient amenities. The plush area features some wonderful accommodations with some hotels situated right across the street from the beach. Durban North is nestled between the city center and Umhlanga and boasts some spectacular city and seafront views. There a number of excellent restaurants, bars, and clubs to choose from. The beaches here are good for swimming, surfing, and fishing due to the sheltered lagoons that open into the stunning waters of the Indian Ocean. 

Suburbs

There are several charming neighborhoods located in the Durban suburbs many with stunning views out on the Indian Ocean. Ballito is a vibrant seaside town with plenty to offer holidaygoers. It has stunning accommodations, beautiful beaches, and a vibrant nightlife scene. There are many relaxed locations to choose from when visiting Durban including Morningside, an affluent and sought after suburb and home to the wealthy residents.
