City Center
Iasi city center is where all the action is taking place with accommodations everywhere and most of the city’s attractions are located. The city center is packed with historical and cultural sights, memorial houses, museums, and beautiful architecture. The center of the city is where visitors can find places like the Palace of Culture at the end of the bustling Union Square (Piata Unirii) and the Golden Plateau at the other end. The city is nicknamed “the city with a hundred churches” which are dotted all around Union Square along with palaces that line Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Boulevard that runs through the center of the city. The Moldova Hotel sits right in the heart of the city next to the Palace of Culture, a hotel featuring an impressive brutalist design from the communist era. The city center is home to many old hotels dating back to the communist era when they used to be the center of entertainment. There are quaint pedestrian streets that run from the Palace of Culture to the Metropolitan Church where some of the city’s finest architecture can be seen, the Stefan el Mare statue and the city hall both impressive sights. There are numerous restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops in the center. The area around the university has undergone extensive renovations, there is a brand new mall, and renovated European-style houses in the thriving area.
Outskirts
The outskirts of Iasi offer visitors some beautiful green surroundings with villages, farms, and vineyards found in the countryside. There is a great selection of accommodations on the outskirts including many apartments and the unique Pleiada Boutique Hotel a 5-star accommodation which some fantastic amenities. There is plenty to explore in the countryside with verdant vineyards, nature areas, and natural mineral springs. Staying in the outskirts is a great option for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Copou Street runs from the old center of Iasi to the outskirts so you are still well connected with the city’s sights and attractions.
