Robberg Beach
Robberg Beach is home to the Robberg Nature and Marine Reserve which is one of the biggest attractions in Plettenberg Bay. Robberg is a 2.5-mile-long peninsula situated southeast of Plettenberg Bay. Robberb Beach is a tranquil beachside haven featuring beautiful leafy suburbs and some fantastic accommodation options. Robberg Beach is a 5 Blue Flag Beach with a gorgeous stretch of white sand lapped by sparkling blue waters perfect for a beach day and swimming in the ocean. There are many different places to stay including beachside hotels, luxurious guest houses, stunning private villas, and boutique hotels. Many of the properties here are elevated, affording spectacular views of the mountains and sea. Robberg Beach is flanked by the sought-after Beacon Isle Resort to the East and the unspoiled nature reserve of Robberg Peninsula to the West. Whales and dolphins frequent the waters of this beach and bay. A huge Cape Fur seal colony calls the bay home, as well as a colony of penguins for part of the year, Great Whites have been spotted in the bay when seal pups are young.
Suburbs
The suburbs of Plettenberg Bay include Central Beach which is one of the most sought-after suburbs in the area, it is home to Plett’s most popular family beach. Central Beach is an iconic beach, and the busiest beach in Plettenberg Bay. It is the launch point for Marine Safaris, dive charters, and ocean kayaking tours. Central Beach allows visitors easy access to the center of town and all of its amenities. There are plenty of accommodations to choose from as well as restaurants, and bars. The beach itself is a great location for a family beach day with swimming, snorkeling, bodyboarding, and other water sports. Dolphins and Whales can be spotted in the waters. Lookout Beach is another great beach in Plett, a popular place to stay and a great beach for swimming and surfing. There are hotels, high-end lodges, quaint B&Bs, luxurious beach houses, treetop suites, and forest lodges found in these suburbs. The area is surrounded by mountains that provide great hiking trails, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.
