Amed
Amed is a seaside village nestled on the east coast of Bali, Indonesia, a hidden gem and quieter neighborhood on the island. It is a great destination to learn the local culture and stay away from the hustle and bustle of the resort towns. Staying here for a few days is a great way to escape and stay in a charming beachside hotel or guest house. Amed sits on a 9-mile stretch of coastline that includes several other villages cumulatively named the Seraya peninsula or North Seraya. The beach at Amed features black volcanic sand due to its location close to Mount Agung which is the largest volcano in Bali. The accommodation options in Amed Beach range from simple homestays to luxury villas. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area many serving a selection of international and Asian cuisine. Amed is a popular beach to go snorkeling, and diving with some very prominent dive sites such as the USAT Liberty. The waters here are teeming with marine life including tropical fish, sea turtles, reef tip sharks, rays, and vibrant coral reefs.
Canggu Beach
Canggu Beach is located 11 miles away from the city of Denpasar, it is visible from the drive as you will see the verdant rice fields that grow all the way to the ocean. Canggu lies 25 minutes north of Seminyak, the main hub here is Echo Beach where visitors can enjoy a plethora of activities including surfing, water sports, family-friendly activities, and spectacular dining. The beach and coastline of Canggu feature black sand and the sunsets here are surreal. Canggu Beach was recently chosen among CNN’s “World’s 100 Best Beaches” at #39. It offers a wide stretch of sand and is a world-famous surfing destination. There are many options for accommodations in Canggu including luxury guest houses, upscale hotels, and charming beachfront villas. Canggu hosted the Indonesia Surfing Championship in 2004, it's known not only for its beauty but its barrelling waves. There are plenty of dining options in Canggu many with beachfront locations that are perfect for capturing those stunning sunset views. There are plenty of shopping opportunities to seek out in Canggu as well as some great nightlife experiences.
Sanur Beach
Sanur Beach is nestled on the southeastern coastline of Bali. The beach here stretches for about 5 miles and connects to several other notable beaches by a paved footpath. The path starts at Padanggalak beach which is a very popular beach, especially on the weekends when frequented by the locals. The beach walkway continues further south there are small clusters of warungs (traditional food stalls) that sell local dishes and refreshments. The central strip of Sanur Beach is Pantai Segara Ayu which is protected by a long strip of offshore reefs that creates a large, warm shallow lagoon perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and a variety of water sports. Sanur is a great place to base yourself when visiting the area, there are plenty of accommodation options to choose from many with beachfront locations. The reefs around Sanur produce some of the best waves in the world, it's also a great place for diving and snorkeling. Sanur is also home to some of Bali’s beautiful historic hotels, there are great restaurants and cafes dotted along the coastline, and a popular night market.
Seminyak Beach
Seminyak Beach is strategically located on the southwest coast of Bali, nestled between the lively Petitenget in the north and Double Six Beach to the south. Seminyak is home to some spectacular accommodations including luxury beach resorts with beachfront locations. The beach resort area presents some of the chicest resorts and villas on the entire island. There is a fine selection of beachfront properties to choose from in Seminyak. If you are looking to stay in the heart of the action of Seminyak there are plenty of places to stay along the main thoroughfare of Jalan Raya Seminyak. Staying here puts visitors in close proximity to an amazing selection of restaurants, 5-star hotels, shopping, and lively nightlife and entertainment. There are a number of great shopping opportunities in the heart of town with an eclectic mixture of shops and chic boutiques along with high-end art galleries to browse. The beach at Seminyak feels and looks like it goes on forever, a sprawling long stretch of sand that you can walk all the way down to Kuta.
Tanah Lot
Purah Tanah Lot is a very popular tourist destination located in Tabanan, with the main attraction being the ancient temple of Tanah Lot in its unique offshore setting. Tahah Lot means “Land in the Sea”, and the silhouette of Pura Tanah Lot is one of the most iconic features of Bali. It is the most visited and photographed temple in Bali with some of the most breathtaking sunset views. There are some spectacular resorts, beachfront hotels, and luxurious villas to choose from here with stunning views. There is a good selection of restaurants, shops, and beachfront bars to visit.
Uluwatu
Uluwatu is located on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula and is best known for its namesake clifftop temple. A hilly limestone region with a stunning cliff-fringed coastline with hidden beaches, and world-class surf breaks it's a great place to base yourself when visiting Bali. There are some charming beachfront properties located here with stunning views of the beaches and ocean. Visitors can find scenic villas, luxurious resorts, and hotels with spectacular amenities many of these properties overlook the Indian Ocean. It is a world-class surfing destination and surfers from all over the world flock here. There are some premier golf courses here such as one in Pecatu with scenic verdant greens overlooking the gorgeous Balangan Beach. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing retreat away from the crowds then Uluwatu is the place to be.
