City Center
The central part of the city of Sibiu is the historical center with extensive renovations taking place in 2006. The city center is spectacular and filled with most of the city’s historic attractions giving a great mixture of old and new. The city was named the European Capital of Culture in 2007, and chosen by Forbes as one of Europe’s most idyllic places to live in 2008, with funds made available to renovate the city. The center of the city is pedestrianized and features charming plazas and squares with medieval charms brimming with terraced cafes, restaurants, and shops. The city center boasts some fantastic accommodations that offer great rooms, amenities, and spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes. The buildings that fill the Old Town are very beautiful buildings that are in great condition, there are weaving narrow cobblestone streets and laneways and charming buildings housing quaint accommodations. The medieval city center is the ideal location to stay in Sibiu, the convenient location allows visitors to see most of the city’s sights, landmarks, eateries, shops, bars, pubs, and cafes that are within walking distance.
Outskirts
Staying on the outskirts of Sibiu can offer guests some great accommodation options including five-star luxury hotels, boutique hotels, guesthouses, and homely villas. There are some wonderful locations to stay on the outskirts lots of them offering scenic views of the surrounding landscapes including the mountains and countryside. The outskirts are easily connected to the city center by public transportation or a short car ride. There are some restaurants, shops, cafes, and bars on the outskirts that offer guests places to eat, shop, and enjoy a quiet night out of the bustle of the city center.
