French Polynesia
French colonial influence can be seen all over the world, even in the islands of French Polynesia, located in the South Pacific a little over 2,500 miles from New Zealand. The vast majority of the population in French Polynesia lives in the Society Islands, home to such world-renowned beach vacation destinations as Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora. The Marquesas Islands are perhaps best-known for the island paradise of Nuku Hiva, home to French Polynesia's tallest dormant volcano.
Australia
The only country that has a whole continent to itself, Australia is a major tourist destination. World-famous for its natural wonders and wide-open spaces (beaches, deserts, and 'the Outback'), Australia is ironically one of the world's most highly urbanized countries and is well known for its cosmopolitan cities, such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra. If you're interested in the miracles of the water-world, don't miss the Great Barrier Reef. The Wet Tropics of Queensland comprise dense rainforests and foaming waterfalls. Rare species of animals can be seen in the famous Kakadu National Park as well as ancient aboriginal art.

Tahiti
Tahiti is the capital of French Polynesia, the main transport hub of the islands and the best place to start exploring the archipelago. There are several interesting museums, the most popular being the Museum of Tahiti and Other Islands with its comprehensive collection of cultural artifacts. The Gauguin Museum traces the life and works of the French painter who made French Polynesia his home. Another sight is the Tahiti Perles Centre featuring the rare and lovely Pinctada Margaritifera, the Tahitian black pearl. One of the most popular beaches is Bain Lot. There are also hiking excursions to the interior of Tahiti and day trips to outer islands.
