Atami
Atami is set on volcanic hills within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, which is home to Mount Fuji. Its mild climate and hot springs have made it a favored resort since the 5th century CE. Development of the city and its surrounding region as a recreational area was rapid after 1934, when the opening of Tanna Tunnel brought the railway to the city.
Visit and explore the Atami Tropical Garden, Atami Japanese-Apricot Garden, and Atami Castle and Art Museum, which sits on a hill overlooking the city and contains a fine collection of Japanese sculptures and paintings. Additionally, don't miss the shrines, onsens, Atami Beach and so much more. -
