Bulgaria and Romania!. Combine Sofia (one of the oldest capital cities in Europe, from the 8th century BC, it houses numerous museums) and Varna (known as “The pearl of the Bulgarian Black Seaside”. Historically known as Odessos -Ancient Greek city-. Varna is an important centre for business, transportation, education, tourism, entertainment and healthcare) by air. Continue to Constanta (a city on the shores of the Black Sea, in southeastern Romania), then, Mamaia (a lively beach resort that sits on a thin strip of land between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol) and finally, Bucharest (once known as the `Little Paris`, with wide, tree-lined boulevards, and glorious Belle Époque buildings and eclectic mixture of architecture, from old monasteries to Orthodox Churches) with transfers in between cities. Sofia
One of the oldest capital cities in Europe, Sofia dates back to the 8th century BCE. Its landmarks reflect more than 2,000 years of history, including Greek, Roman, Ottoman and Soviet occupations. Sofia houses numerous museums, notably the National Historical Museum which has a vast collection of more than 650,000 historical items. Sofia is one of the hippest cities in Bulgaria, boasting a lively nightlife scene with many different nightclubs, live venues, pubs, mehani (Bulgarian traditional taverns), and restaurants. Varna
Varna, the third-largest city in Bulgaria, is the largest of the Black Sea resort towns. Varna is well-known for its archaeological sites and finds, such as the 6,000-year-old Gold of Varna, the oldest gold treasure in the world, and the Roman Baths which is the largest of its kind in the Balkans. Many people use Varna as a jumping-off point to explore the rest of the Black Sea Coast, but it is a popular tourist destination in its own right. It is one of the cultural centers of Bulgaria, and it is also home to one of the most vibrant nightlife scenes in the country. Be sure to visit one of the hot thermal spring "sea baths" which dot the coast. Constanta is a popular vacation spot due to its warm weather; a popular beach resort, Mamaia, is located just 20 minutes away by car. Mamaia
Mamaia is Romania's largest seaside resort, and one of the oldest, dating back to 1905. It is located eight miles northeast of Constanta on a narrow barrier island situated between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol. The island, five miles in length but just 300 yards wide in some spots, is jam-packed with resorts, bars, cafés, and restaurants. The main street, the Bulevardul Mamaia, runs through the western portion of the island and the beachfront is situated to the east.
