The Douro Valley could as easily be called the enchanted valley, such is the beauty and magic that its landscapes offer. The quintas are the wine-producing farms where world-famous Port wine is produced on improbably steep terraces.
After Port wines, the rich and fortified Madeira wine is the next famous Portuguese wine. It ranges from sweet to dry, each one as delicious as the next, thanks to a one-of-a-kind process. Add in lush vegetation, sunny beaches, and dramatic cliffs, what more could you want?
The calm and historic Alentejo region is marked by cork oaks, olive trees, and vineyards among its rolling hills. Here and there a town pops up standing proudly along roads winding beyond castles and convents.

Vinho verde is a young, lightly fizzy and refreshing wine, grown in the Minho province - where Guimaraes dominates Portuguese history and Braga offers panoramic views over the countryside.
If you haven`t heard of the Dao region, that just means there are more hidden (wine) gems to discover. Situated in the Beira Alta region, the rich and structured wines here come from the Queen of the grapes - the Touriga Nacional.
