With a Rental Car, combine and visit; Lisbon (with an ancient fortress at its heart, charming neighborhoods, culture and local festivals, nightlife along the Tagus riverbank and delectable food) and Fatima (hosting one of the most important Catholic shrines in the world, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the Museum of Sacred Art and the Casa-Museu de Aljustrel). Fatima
Fatima has welcomed Catholic pilgrims and visitors of all faiths for 100 years. The legend of Fatima began in 1917, when three shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco, witnessed a series of Marian apparitions, culminating in a spectacle witnessed by 70,000 people that many labeled `a miracle`. The area where the children saw the Virgin Mary is now called the Sanctuary, and many chapels and basilicas are located here.
