Once the envy of the Eastern Bloc, the southern Black Sea coast, with its grand hotel resort complexes and seaside towns, was called the Red Riviera. Since the fall of Communism there has been a sharp increase of tourism and investment from the West. `Ancient cities` that have been settled for at least two millennia have become popular resort towns: to the north of Burgas are Pomorie, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, and Sveti Vlas, while to the south lie resorts and villas in Sozopol and Primorsko.

Sveti Vlas is home to well-heeled Bulgarian businessmen and celebrities. Its beach faces due south, meaning its waters are calmer than anywhere else.
Sozopol`s Old Town is an `archaeological reserve`, painstakingly preserved to retain its charm. People also come for its resorts, beaches, and cultural events.
Primorsko is one of the warmest and sunniest towns, where you`ll find hotels and resorts along two strands of glorious beaches called North and South Beach.
