  • Ciudad del Este is strategically set opposite the Brazilian city of Foz de Iguazu, joined to it by the Friendship Bridge, and in front of the city of Puerto Iguazu in Argentina, for which the area is called the ``Triple Frontier``. This a metropolis of intense economic activity, and it is the third largest free trade zone in the world, after Miami (United States) and Hong Kong (China), where you can find products from renowned brands of electronics, computers, perfumery and even probably the best wine cellar in South America, with the best wines from all continents, mainly from incredible French vintages. Near Ciudad del Este is a major tourist site; the massive Itaipu Dam, ``the stone that sings`` in the Guarani language, located on the Parana River and only 6 miles from the center you can admire the Saltos del Monday, with three mighty waterfalls 130 feet high each. Also nearby are the world famous Falls of Iguazu, regional hotspot that welcomes about 4 million visitors per year!! The Encarnación sambadrome (492.126 yards) is the fourth in the world, after Rio de Janeiro (601.487 yards) and Sao Paulo (579.615 yards) and Gualeguaychu (546.807 yards). The city features an important growth in its hotel infrastructure and meeting rooms, with the opening of first-class hotels and meeting rooms for between 20 and 600 delegates. Encarnación also has excellent restaurants, and a varied nightlife between walks along its waterfront shared with the neighbouring Argentine province of Posadas, pubs and casinos. Among its main cultural and tourist attractions are the popular beaches and just an hour away are the immaculately preserved Jesuit Mission of the Holy Trinity, declared World Heritage by UNESCO, testimonies of the well-known Jesuit experience in Paraguay. And while these ancient wonders are entirely worthwhile, there are a number of exciting other attractions on offer to keep travelers amused as well.
