Once known as the 'Little Paris', Bucharest, Romania's capital, is known for its wide, tree-lined boulevards, and glorious Belle Epoque buildings. There is even an Arc de Triomphe on a boulevard longer than the Champs Elysees, with a variety of trees that flower beautifully in the spring. You will be intrigued by the city's eclectic mixture of architecture, from old monasteries and Orthodox Churches, to Second Empire mansions, the stolid Stalinist architecture of the communist years, and the colossal Parliament House, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon.

Constanta
Constanta is the largest city on the Black Sea coast of Romania, and is home to the Black Sea's largest port. It is the oldest continuously-inhabited city in Romania, and was first settled in the seventh century BCE. It was the final home of the poet Ovid, in the first century CE, and the Old Town's main square is named for him. Constanta is a popular vacation spot due to its warm weather; a popular beach resort, Mamaia, is located just 20 minutes away by car.

Mamaia
Mamaia is Romania's largest seaside resort, and one of the oldest, dating back to 1905. It is located eight miles northeast of Constanta on a narrow barrier island situated between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol. The island, five miles in length but just 300 yards wide in some spots, is jam-packed with resorts, bars, cafes, and restaurants. The main street, the Bulevardul Mamaia, runs through the western portion of the island and the beachfront is situated to the east.
